I was making up a menu for an future party for a social group of which I am a co-chair and sending a menu to the place for consideration. I propose an Hors d'oeuve of Asparagus wrapped in "Prosciutto" (Italian ham). I ran an Internet Explorer Outlook Express spell check on my proposal and the word "Prosciutto" came up flagged with the corrected word as prostitute. Without looking hard, I changed to the first suggested alternative word, and sent the e-mail.

    Well...

My co-chair informed me of my mistake. We traced the error to the Spell Check program in Outlook Express. Am I the first one to be caught?

I sure hope the receipient has a good sense of humor. Either that, of the party will be very unusual.

    ;)

I use Prosciutto and not Prostitute in alot of appettizer. Word of advice not all cured hams are the same, so try a slice or 2 before buying a 1/2 to1 lb of the stuff and finding out you don't like it or it is to salty. ( Prosciutto ham is very very expensive , something along the lines of over $12.00 for my local grocery store, the italian deli charges like almost $15.00 dollars but theirs cut are very very good )

A nice " appetizer" with prosciutto ham is to wrap small game birds meat ( dove/piegon ) in a layer of this and bacon & season, pin the whole thing together with a toothpick to keep wrap from opening and bake for about 30mins. Serve warm. Makes for a nice simple crunchy bite size Hors Devours.

Another wrap is to take un-smoke & peppered salmon and wrap then with deli thin sliced prosciuto along with fresh chopped oregano. Coat the salmon/ham wrap with a light butter or olive oil, pin the wrap like above and bake for a quick 5-10 min at 350deg or until done. To make a dip sauce, you will need 2 cups of sweet red wine, minced fine garlic and pearl or shallots onions. In a small skillet bring mixture to a boil and then simmer for about 10mins. Serve wraps warm and try to keep the sauce hot and serve right at eating time with small spoon.

You might not need any salt or Pepper depending on the falvor of the ham and salmon.

    Good luck.

You know, that certainly does conjure up some interesting mental images.

It WOULD make a good appetizer though. But, if the prostitute was the appetizer, what would the main course be?

    Just curious.

For a moment I thought Bill Clinton was having a dinner party.

If he could find a new place for a Cigar, imagine what he could do with ham.
