"A small rainforest raccoon-like creature ran into a Florida apartment and bit a man after he opened the front door to head to work, officials said.

WPEC-TV reports the kinkajou bit the man's foot and scratched his leg but did not seriously injure him in the Friday attack.

Natalie Dulach said the furry mammal with sharp claws clung to the man's leg as he fought to get it off him. The man managed to lock the long-tailed animal in the bathroom until wildlife officers arrived. "

At least he was going to work and not just stepping out of the shower.

Cute little guy, but wouldn't want him crawling up my leg. Hope he gets a good home. Not his fault some asshat brought him so far away from his family.

" Kinkajous live in the tropical forests of Central and South America, where they spend most of their time in the trees. They are able to turn their feet backwards to run easily in either direction along branches or up and down trunks. The kinkajou also has a prehensile (gripping) tail that it uses much like another arm. Kinkajous often hang from this incredible tail, which also aids their balance and serves as a cozy blanket while the animal sleeps high in the canopy.

Though many of its features and traits sound like those of a primate, the kinkajou is actually related to the raccoon. "

I might have to find one in a zoo somewhere just to see that foot backwards thing.

Hmmm, related to a trash panda; I hope they don't melt in the Florida heat like my raccoon does.

Or you could look at a squirrel out in your yard. They do the same thing (although I've never seen one run backwards).

I say the kinkajou gets the boot. Problem is the annie lovers kick them out the door into the woods instead of breaking out the .22 . So now you have kinkajou meeting kinkajou in florida's and making inbred baby little kinkajou's.

I was in RSA once and we caught a Honey Badger in a cheetah trap. Talk about an animal from hell, it growled like the alien in the Alien movies and it wouldn't leave the trap. It kept trying to bite thru the cage at us instead of leaving. The trackers were so afraid of it they stayed in the Land Rover and I had to help the guide get it out of the cage, "the native trackers are scared as hell of the animals there".

Heres Lispy little Randall describing the African Honey Badger.

When I did construction work in Florida, in the 80's, my boss was a collector of illegally obtained tropical animals.
