I knew very little about reloading, but now that I've spent a few hours reading/watching Tim's site I have alot more understanding of how it all works now.
Whether his name is Tim or Gavin if his main purpose coming here is to promote his site he should advertise with Eric instead of just doing these drive buys.
I like the Ultimate Reloader site. Learned lots from it. His vids are much clearer than most youtubes. Even bought his roller handle for my LnL, which improves the ergo's.
If it helps other reloaders, let him promote the site here. I dont think it hurts anyone.
I saw this the other day, informative read, as always.
You plan on doing any videos of the RCBS Lockout Die? I'm curious how this die works, and when it does "lock up", how you go about clearing the stoppage.
I have this die in my LnL now. Although I havent reloaded my first round yet, the test runs seem to work well.
If the powder level is incorrect in the case, the case will not feed thru the die completely, thus preventing the press from turning. Theres a rod that is set at a certain level before it allows the case to pass thru the die, kinda like the case activated powder drops. To clear it, you simply lower the shell plate and fix what is wrong and move on. It seems to be sensitive to a grain or 2.

I can see Shotgunred's point of view in that Eric runs the site as a business and depends on advertisers and paid subscriptions to keep his head above water but I'm not sure the Ultimatereloader, (Gavin) could really justify an advertising budget on here. H really doesn't have all that many products for sale.
I do appreciate his site however. He does a very fine job of producing his videos and it's one of the few places when you can compare different machines and available accessories.
With him posting here occasionally it allows newbs and those of us who don't know as much as we think we know to be exposed to new products. Actually I think it compliments GTR quite well... kinda like a value added service which ultimately helps Eric.
Ya you're right Jack. I'm probably the one being too over sensitive. It just seems like every time Gavin posts here he doesn't get much props. I feel like his whole site is dedicated to helping new reloaders, but Shotgunred does have a point if Gavin is selling stuff.
I don't think his only participation should be to promote his site. Not only does he sell products but is probably a youtube partner making money off his videos. Hey more power to him is he is making a profit. But Eric is trying to make a living also. Nutenfancy makes a lot of youtube partner videos but he not only list his videos but actively participates on GT.

If you look in Carry Issues, there's plenty of people plugging holsters they make and they do not pay advertising royalties here. He has a pretty informative site, if you ever go there and check it out. As Jack mentioned, he really doesn't have very much for sale over there...
I know how much time it takes to shoot and edit those videos. I don't think ultimatereloader has any time to really post on here. Especially if he has a full time job and family. I consider his videos more than enough contribution to this board and reloading in general.
