It is aimed at a very specific subgroup, not the masses.
That's what I was thinking. Figure out your target audience, and go after them. A story on another site had many feeling this was "creepy", and "scary, so I will be checking dark corners in my home". But that was a Charlotte Observer article that was on a MSNBC site. I found it to be a great add. I liked the history and the way it made one think a bit. Not going to appeal to a person who wants to be in a M1 Abrams, a Chinook, or building time in a C-17 to fly for the airlines when they get out. As you said, a certain group of people.

"The purpose of tactics is to affect human perception." - John Boyd

  • Penetrate & disrupt adversary's time competitive decision-making process.
  • Change situation more rapidly than adversary can comprehend.
  • Create conditions to prevent adversary from forming mental images that agree with unfolding situation.

  • Break down adversary:
    • Mentally
      • Intuitive and analytical cognitive processes
    • Emotionally
      • Feelings & sensibility
    • Psychologically
      • Mentally + emotionally = shape behavior, reactions & expectations

  • Cause confusion & disorder:
    • Attack/menace adversary's mind-time-space
    • Create a turbulent and rapidly deteriorating situation with which adversary cannot cope
    • Inhibit/impair adversary's ability/capacity to shape or adapt to change

At lest two sides are always going at it in some form or another. The Soviets had the "World Peace Movement" or something like that back in the Cold War. The East German Stassi probably had a lot going on in W. Germany and surrounding areas. I bet the list is long with the usual characters of the era.

Wouldn’t that be a “conspiracy”. Crazy.

I have been going over "The Art of War" a second time. I skimmed Roger Ames' introduction the first time, being so philosophical.

From the Army's 4th Psychological Operations Group?
