http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/12/army_carrier_plates_122109w/ It may be unproven, but honestly, after Iraq, and seeing how the soft armor in our IOTVs DID NOT stop shrapnel effectively, I'm glad the Army is lightening our load. I'd rather sacrifice a small amount of protection for mobility.....there's a reason why ODA and Rangers wear Plate Carriers...... As for unproven, a Plate Carrier is a Plate Carrier AFAIK.... As for unproven, well, found out today this is what we're getting RFI'ed when we arrive in theater soon, but in Multicam. We're getting all-new Multicam uniforms, pouches, and gear, to include the Plate Carrier. Thank Goodness! Actually shouldering your weapon with the IOTV or the bulky IBA is cumbersome as hell.
