hey, one of my armalites has a fixed muzzle break and its not the slotted type, it has the ported circles for the break not the slots'.. are these type of muzzle breaks that much louder than the slanted ones?? thanks

A muzzle break will increase the noise. By "slotted type" do you mean A2 flash hider (not the same as a muzzle break)? Also, Armalite is manufacturer, not a type of gun, so do you mean an AR-15?

Any effective muzzle brake is going to be loud due to gas redirection.

I never understood why a muzzle brake is needed on a 5.56. It's kind of like having adjustible sights on a mousegun pistol.

Having shot ARs with and without muzzle brakes/flash hiders I have come to the conclusion that it just turns muzle flip from little to almost none. It makes it easier to get a handful of rounds out fast in close. Check out some of Kyle Lamb's videos on youtube.

there is so little recoil to begin with kind of seems more like a thing for looks to me when they are adding them on .223's, alot of people buy guns just because they are pleasing to the eye instead of just on quality..most like me probly buy them for both reasons tho. i like good looks but very dependable quality as well..

Shoot in defensive/practical competition with guys who can really handle rifles, and the small gains in split times make all the difference.
