I hope none of our AZ residents are involved. Prayers sent for the victims. tom.
I just saw that. Unbelievable how fast the water from miles away can rise so quick. In summer the soil from West Texas to Southern California basically turns into asphalt. Any dry creek bed is like a huge pipeline for water. Dangerous to say the least. Good thoughts for all concerned.
News reports make it sound like it could have been at least mostly a group of friends and family.
What? We had a big blow last night. A little bit of of thunder and lightning.
Anyone hear from Zonny? tom.
I used to truck through Arizona. Monsoon storms can drop an incredible amount of water in a short period.
One night I saw it come down as hard as any midwestern downpour and 15 minutes later not a cloud in sight. Almost beyond belief. Arizonians know it well.
AZ Central has the story Tim. Now saying 9 dead, 1 body unrecovered so far. Very tragic. Prayers for those close to the victims ...
Oh my, that is horrible. Prayers for the families effected.
Over the years, I've worked with people from Az & NM. They all said the same thing. Look at the clouds and storms in the mountains, even 30-50 miles away. 2 hours later a wall of water 10' high will come down a dry creek bed. It's a tough and dangerous land.
As others have said, prayers and condolences to the families of the lost.
Yep. Utahns too...
Prayers for those involved.
I'm good. Thanks for thinking of me.
This is a horrible situation. I can't even imagine. A day of family fun turned into a nightmare. I believe there had been 8 bodies recovered; one still missing. Four children, as young as two.
You MUST stay out of washes and low lying areas during the monsoon season. These flash floods happen in a hurry. Compounded by resent fires, the runoff is unimaginable. Furious and littered with a lot of debris, including ash which made the water almost black.
My heart aches for this family.
I've never been to Arizona. I was about to ask how someone could avoid this. Very sad situation.
It's also pretty interesting how the water can move around on the ground, especially when you're coming from a non-desert environment. Don't crash out in the arroyo!
Happens every year during monsoon season.
Prayers to those people.
That is scary.
There's AZ and there is AZ. Have a place due south of Tuscon. Nice country, nice people.
I've pruned the bickering. I expect that it won't come back to a thread about dead children.
