Are YOU prepared to "bug out" if you have to?

Watching that couple defending their lives and property in St Louis, it dawned on me that many people may not actually be prepared for what happens if these riots move into their neighborhood.

I know, I've read it here... "I'm armed and I'll protect my family and property."

    OK, I get it.

Now what happens when they finally set your house on fire and everything you own is going up in flames? You going to stand on the flaming porch and shoot until you are out of ammo?

You have a dozen fire-weilding rioters coming at you from all sides. They are not walking up single file, they are approaching from behind the neighbors house, from the back fence, through the smoke from the burning house next door. Once you have shot once, now you are targeted and they will "get you" no matter what.

Do you already have a bug-out bag and know how to get your family through the rioters - in your car or maybe just on foot because your car is on fire - and away to safety?

Would you be standing barefoot amid the smoldering ruins as the rioters move on to the next neighborhood?

I think I'm prepared, some would call me paranoid, but I believe that if worse came to worse I would be out of here either by car (safely in the garage and already loaded up) or on foot out the back through the woods. I've walked my escape root on foot and know where I would go, what paths I would take in the darkness, and where I would end up.

    Do you?

I didn’t work all my life for what I have so I could big-out for fear of thug protesters.

I’ll stay and take as many of them as I can, with me. My wife is on-board with that too.

I’m no more Rambo than survivalist. I’m just too old and pissed off to run. Dead serious about that.

I have about a 6mo supply of emergency food and other supplies for 4-6 people. All this would fit in the car or truck. If I have to escape the mob, I can live in the woods, completely isolated, and can survive for as long as need be. I have hunting/trapping/farming skills that many do not have.....lucky me!

    Not bugging out.

I purposely moved out of the city, and far away from any likely "civil unrest" area.

The chances of anything showing up in my neighborhood is just about zero.

I also live in a highly red (Republican) county, with red law enforcement, DA, and politicians. No one in charge here would have law enforcement stand down.

If anything did show up, I am well prepared.

Nope, but the odds of rioters making it to my neighborhood are infinitesimally small.

    Luck favors the prepared. :highfive:
Most people don't have those skills. When people's options are limited, sometimes they have to make a stand and hope not to die.

I don't have that problem as my house has wheels and I have a few skills myself. ;)

Too old and slow to run. This house has been my home for forty years, I will not surrender it willingly. On a side note I did not know 40 was now spelled forty in stead of fourty.

I think that you are more exposed and at greater risk buging out through a mob. Bug out before the mob comes or stand your ground are the only two options as I see it.

In the event protesters make it to the suburbs where I live, my “bug-out” plan is for the family and I to go to a nice hotel until everything blows over. Everything in my house is insured and/or replaceable. Besides, I wouldn’t mind soaking in a hot tub and ordering room service for a few days until the hood rats get tired and disperse.
