Are you a "Wheel gun guy" or a "Semi-auto guy"

I have always thought of myself as more of a "wheel gun guy." I always preferred a nice .45colt wheel gun over any other weapon, but as of late I have started having a real love affair with semi-autos (which started with my new found attraction to 1911's). I have always owned more wheelguns than seni-autos but now (as you can see in the pic below) I seem to have reached s stage where I am sort of in the middle. My collection has become pretty balanced.

    Which do you consider yourself?

Wow I don't know what I am but I know you are my hero! I thought my safe was getting full but you sir have put me in my place!:wow:

I am the opposite. I have always been a semi-auto guy until recently. I purchased a S&W 327 performance center. I have owned .357's in the past but man is that thing just a pleasure to shoot. Really limited recoil with full house .357 Magnum loads and all 8 shots are like precision guided missles that land exactly where you want them to. It may have started me down the road to balancing out my collection.

Those S&W Performance center pieces can convert even the most die-hard autoloader guys. You are lucky to own one. I have on of the Pro Series m686 that is just amazing.

A couple of decades ago, I called myself a revolver guy........but, I've evolved into a SA guy.

.....still love a nice revolver, though.

When it comes down to "need", semi-autos are the pinnacle of utility.

    I love both.

1911's are typically my favorite semi auto.

Snubbies are typically my favorite revolvers.

It goes well together because I like full size 1911's and small snubb nose revolvers.
I do like just about every type of firearm though.

I have more semi autos, but do love my wheelguns.

    Hey PBP,
Mind starting a new thread here in the general firearms forum... one where you post some pics of your single action revolvers?

I only own a Uberti Single action army, but my absolute favorite revolver in the world is a good 1873 model.

I would love to drool over some of your collection! (i'm on the hundred-year plan....hundred years before i can afford a collection like yours)

    I'm a fan of both.
I started out with a S&W revolver and G1 1911A1. I never grew to favoring
    one over the other.

To me the only difference is the semi-auto usually carries more rounds and is faster to reload but I have to pick up the brass for reloading.

I'm more of a bottom-feeder kind of guy...

But I own two revolvers. You know, just for kicks. hehe

When I was younger and Rambo was fresh in my mind, I favor the auto, especially one with a gazillion rounds magazine capacity.

Now that I'm older and wiser, I favor the wheelguns.

I'm more semi than wheelgun guy. However, SA revolver is my ultimate target plinker.

PS: What kind of safe is that? I need one arranged just like that.

I find myself looking for the revolvers when I enter a gun store. I do happen to own more revolvers than semi autos, so I guess I am a wheel gun guy. The only odd thing is that its only the semi auto's and mostly 1911's that have a wow factor. I have never said wow! when looking at a revolver. Odd

I'm more of a semi-auto guy but I like both. I started off with revolvers as my first few guns but soon added more and more semi-autos to the mix.

I really just love guns. It's hard for me to be too picky.

A Glock G20, a Steyr M9A1, and a KelTec P3AT will have the tendency to convert a SA/DA revolver guy. I still love all, but I tend to carry the autos more.

Semi-autos for me. I do respect a nice wheel gun though.

Definitely SA. A few months ago, I was wanting something smaller than my G19 to carry for those few days when my dress doesn't allow for the G19 to easily be concealed. The only revolver in my collection is an old .22 my father gave me and I wanted to try something new, so I went with the S&W 438. I'd shot other revolvers in the past and never really enjoyed shooting them like I do a SA but thought this one would be different. I tried to love it, but couldn't and ended up selling it after two months to fund a 92FS.

I love the lines, durability, and flexability of a good revolver, i.e. .38sp in a .357, .44sp in a .44mag, the ability to change power of loads without worrying about recoil springs. Besides PA doesn't allow SA pistols for taking game so I will always keep a revolver or two in addition to my j-frame.
