I like a good clam chowder or Gumbo. Any others? It's getting cold up here. My wife makes good Ham and Chicken soup, but only If I'm good and stay off the internet.;f

No Soup For You might know of some, but I doubt he will share.;z

Seriously, I like the Campbell’s tomato soup with some good homemade bread. I like the Mari Calendars chicken and beef soups.

I often eat the CattleDrive chili over mom's homemade bread; very good.

Progresso is a safe bet, although their chicken and beef soups are too salty for my taste.

I personally like the Campbell's Homestyle Chicken Soup. But it's probably not very good for me.:(

I agree that the Progresso's are good but salty.

I really like the Trader Joes Chicken Noodle Soup and the Beef Stew, although I add frozen vegetables to both to increase the amount of veggies.

I'm not one who normally chooses to eat soup but do sometimes. The wife brought home a few cans of Marie Calendars chicken pot pie soup last week and I find it tasty and satisfying but a bit heavy on potatoes so not very Atkins friendly. I'm not heavily into Atkins, mostly watch calories and try to offset them with exercise but I do pay a bit of attention to carbs. The Marie Calendars soup is meant to be warmed as is from the can and not watered down so probably not really cost efficient for canned soup.

It is amazing what you can buy in prepackaged food. Watch the sodium content, because it tends to be high. I buy a pre-made boil in the bag beef and broccoli that is outstanding!! But then again I don't cook! :)

Why can't someone make canned soup with like 300mg of sodium instead of 950? It's canned, it's not going bad, right? I love soup, esp. the homestyle kind, but not all the salt.

Several of the companies do make low-sodium lines of soups. They usually have "healthy" in the name. They usually need some pepper to taste decent, and you shouldn't assume they are low in calories or fat.

Here's what I found in my pantry:

Healthy Choice brand Country Vegetable, 480 mg. sodium. Now this is per serving, and the 15 ounce can is two servings. It's not one you add water to.

Campbell's Healthy Request Chicken Rice, 420 mg. of sodium, 2.5 servings in a 10.5 ounce can, meant to be mixed with a can of water.

yummm...i never thought i'd eat cold soup until the big N/E poweroutage a couple years ago. after 2 days i'd eat ANYTHING! :)

funny...it was like a HUGE party in my city...went to the store and everybody was buying 2 things...beer and ice.

anyways, after a couple days, we were cracking open progresso soups, dumping them into the bowl, and eating like kings! was awesome stuff.

I know you said canned but it is so easy to make some of your own. Two of my favs: 1: boil hambone 20 minutes (or sub cooked hamburger meat) add frozen veggies (corn, blackeye peas, whatever you like, add cut up onion to taste, potatoes chopped fine, add basil & mace to taste. Add two large cans of diced tomato (or more) 2: Big pot again: boil cabbage, add potatoes, and onion, add cooked hamburger last. When you put it in your bowl, add Maggi seasoning into your bowl. East tomato soup with cornbread, hamburger/cabbage soup with bisquits. These usually wind up being a huge pot, leftovers freeze well in zip bags and are just as good next time.

That's some good stuff. I also like the new Chunky branded chilis and the old Campbells condensed bean with bacon.

Nothing cleans you out like a soup with beans. ;f
