Are some chain restaurants turning "ghetto"?

Okay, watching some commercials for some popular chain restaurants I can't help but wonder about some new food items added to theirs menus and what is the reason for this?
Both Red Lobster and Longhorn's now offer odd Mac N' Cheese concoctions and O'Charlie's offers Nashville style hot chicken. Even my girl who has lived in the hood noticed this, btw.

Do you think this is because of demographic changes? Or is this because many foods have been normalized by food programs?

Mac and Cheese could be used to pull in kids and there are some people who like Mac and Cheese as long as it is gussied up.

For some reason, I don't think kids are going to be ordering a lobster tail covered with mac n' cheese.

High end steak restaurants like Capitol Grille have lobster mac and cheese on the menu.

I don't think they are after the "ghetto" crowd.

I think that more people are finding they like the different varieties of food. And let's face it, if it sells, they're gonna put it on the menu. I've never tried chicken and waffles but many of my friends have. I'm starting to think maybe I've been missing out. Not a racial thing to me btw.

Mac and Cheese is becoming hipster food. For less than a $1 in ingredients, you can charge some sucker $10. It's good math.

I, for one, will never pay to eat something I can easily make at home.

Let's be clear. Ghetto in regards to the food vs the people who eat there.

The only time I have eaten there was being on the road and wanting to sit down to eat something other than burgers and fries. Same a Sizzler.

Don't know about the others, but Red Lobster has been very "ghetto" for a long time. Seems like we can't go in one for lunch on a weekend without having to listen to some loud, usually female, ghetto dwellers "getting their drink on" at noon.

In that case I don't know - Red Lobster is ghetto because of the people who eat there.

I once ate at a Red Lobster on Salem Avenue in Trotwood Ohio, way back when I got back to the US from Taiwan and wanted to introduce my wife to lobster. My first clue was that there was armed, uniformed security in the lobby. My second clue was that I turned my wife off of lobster for life. To say that there was no comparison to the lobster that was served at our NCO club in Taiwan would be like saying that there is no comparison between a rotting tree branch and a stalk of fresh celery.

I have seen a young professional human resource manager squeal like a little girl to discover that a local diner had added fried mac and cheese to their menu. I think it is an age thing.

When we're at a Hard Rock we both get a mac n cheese chicken dish, forget the name. Wife happens to love mac n cheese. Trust me, with my wife's family tree she is far from ghetto.

you are missing out. it is absolutely worth my money to pay someone else to prepare virtually every meal i take.

i also tend to throw out pots and pans and plates rather then clean them. i done put in my time and the time owed by half a dozen other people on k.p. and punishment kitchen detail growing up, ive had my fill for a few lifetimes.

if i never wash another object involved with eating for the rest of my life i will be a happy person.

im glad i have the option of paying someone else to make it their problem. Just the good part please, hold the details.

TV advertisers target the people most likely to buy their products.
In most cases that's the "under 30" group of people.
