Well, I don't know. My informal observation is that peoples attention spans are getting shorter. Here are some things I notice that are related and indirectly related to short attention spans: If Im on hold with VISA or AT&T, the girl comes back every 60-90 seconds to ask if Im still there. The muzak is considerably louder than when I was a kid. Johnny Carson went from 90 minutes to 60 minutes. The pause between narrator commentary in TV shows is much shorter than it used to be. No time for reflection. I have to send a second email before the recipient will respond. The boss sends you an email at 8am and calls you at 10am to ask if you have received it. Texting, cell phones, blah, blah, blah. Music at the ballgame. At first, just between innings; then, during a pitching change; now, between pitches. I call a customer on the phone. They answer it, only to say, I cant talk. Im in a meeting.
