Are "C" & "RTF" mutually exclusive?

    Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a Glock 23 RTF but recently became aware of the "C" (compensated) versions of certian Glocks. I've seen Glock 23C's and Glock 23 RTF's, but never the two options together. Does anyone here know if a 23C is available with RTF? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know there is no such thing as an RTF2 finish that comes compensated from the factory.

Yeah not yet although the rtf are a gen 3 so you could take a upper 23C and pair with 23 rtf lower.... unless you want the fish gills too then your s.o.l.

Hey thanks for the info! There's a 23C for sale at a place close to here. I'm not against changing to an RTF/RTF-2 lower if they can be purchased separately and aren't horrendously expensive. Really don't care about the fishgills. This sounds like a fairly easy swapout, no?

I purchased a Glock 23C with an RTF frame from the factory last week from Ed's Public Safety in Georgia. They have a website and they have a few more in stock. I was told that they only had one run of these guns before they decided to call it quits with it. They only have it in the 23 size, but they do exist from the factory. I bought it last week and at that time, they still had more in stock.

Do you really need a compensated glock? What is the reasoning behind even buying one? For some reason I don't see a reason for getting one. Is the recoil that bad on a regular one? Doesn't it just shoot burnt powder upwards and muzzle flash? I guess I just don't see the point. If someone has valid reasons please let me know.

    I saw a fishgills 23C in Ed's display case yesterday - but it's a LE/Mil/GSSF gun.

I carry a 23c RTF2 with curved serrations everyday. I got it from Ed's Public Safety. GSSF price of $449!

i'm not justifying the need for the C, but i ran across this video a while ago:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-1CW6vIMpk

    I bought my 23C over a decade ago...when i didn't know any better. do i regret it today? nope...but i do carry a 27 now; because i'm a smaller dude...and it's more comfortable

Good to know. I guess if it exists then Ed's must have or had it.

I have one as well that is RTF, but for some reason its not as accurate as my G23 non comp version. It weird, I get flyers every once and awhile, whereas with my non comp version its deadly accurate.

There is very little v-port flash with the C version too.

To be honest, I really can't feel a difference between the C and Non-C 23's, but the cool factor of the C is there.

With the exception of competition considerations, I see absolutely zero need for a "C" model.

For more advanced shooters, the c models can make a notable difference with no downside other than increased cost. For ccw, most shooters couldn't tell the difference, much less find it useful.
