Hey fellow Glockers and general 2nd amd fans, I've been a long time member, sporadic poster but I had a thought I'd like to share with ya'll.

So it hasn't been mentioned much by the media but apparently the gun used to save the day in Texas was an AR.

If I recall correctly, several past shootings have been stopped, or at least hampered by legally carrying citizens or off duty police. I can think of at least 3 off the top of my head including this recent one in Texas.

Well here's the thing, the media will hyper-report about the guns the assailants use, make, model, caliber, scary facts about the caliber etc etc, how about a movement to highlight the firearms on the good side of things.

What type of AR did the hero use?? What mods?? What was his preferred cartridge?
What type of pistol or handgun did that female guard use to stop the murders in the other shooting recently?

As the media spends much time and treasure demonizing inanimate objects such as guns, let's do what we can to highlight the blessings firearms can be in the right hands??!!!

Russ/Eric/whoever's in charge nowadays (hey guys hope you're well!!), how about a sticky with an updated list of guns used to save lives, it can be limited to mass shootings, or even daily events where legally armed citizens use guns for the betterment of society.

What say ya'll??!!!

Thanks Schrag, for guys like me and you I'm not sure how relevant the specs on the firearms may be, but to middle America, knowing that the same guns are used on both sides of the battle may make a difference...? More of an attempt at proper disclosure than anything else...you're right about what you said though.

I would say that bad acts ( with a gun) are not about "the gun" and neither are the good acts carried about by good people with a gun. Saying that the good guy used an AR15 is about as much weapons related detail as I consider productive.

Everyone has their own preferences regarding the tools they use. I admire this hero's grit and fortitude but I do not care in the least about his choice of grip tape, ammo selection, optics or what boots he wears. I will simply tip my hat to him and say good job.

The autopsy analysis showing the gunshot wounds would be more interesting than a detailed recounting of the rifle's features.
Dubito, I agree, and just the mere media coverage of the "good guys" use of firearms would be a good thing for the avg American to hear about...

Yes, but this wouldn't project the narrative that the major left wing news media has been projecting for years and years, and that is that all guns are bad and Joe Citizen can't be trusted with firearms. At least now we have Fox News which has been more than willing to air such stories of armed citizens coming to the rescue to fight against bad guys with guns, even while keeping a staunch Democrat like Juan Williams onboard as a major player, whilst the likes of CNN, MSNBC, etc. give less than 10 minutes of any hours airtime to any given "Republican guest".

Yes, Fox news does it's part but I don't know how effective and for how long, ever since the sons took over from Rupert.

The severely controlled media has been framing the discussion for way too long, a few good websites would go far into changing the narrative imo.

This is a perfect example of "fighting fire with fire", an AR15 on AR15.....but advantage Eotech!

That bright Eotech large red outer circle and its bright center dot stands out on your target VERY quickly. You don't have to put your eye up to an Eotech as you do an aimpoint, or need to take a couple of moments to line up iron sights. It's immediate and really makes a positive difference when you are under stress and must return fire rapidy..... as exactly what was going on outside that church. I've had an Eotech and a flip-up magnifier mounted on my Colt 6920 for many years. It will remain there.

For you guys that are unfamiliar with Eotech; this is not my rifle, but I thought I'd post a photo for you of what it looks like to glance through an Eotech. Imagine that red dot on a target just 50 feet away from you. I really believe the good guy was at an advantage with it...... thank goodness!

I don't know the particulars of the exchange, when it happened, etc. But maybe he saved the day for someone, or maybe just someone down the line. The perp ended up dead and maybe that would not have happened when it did without the good guy.

When the POS left the church, he had weapons and ammunition in the car, and he was headed in the direction of another Baptist Church a few miles away. No one will ever know if he intended on attacking the other church - but what is sure, is that Stephen Willeford and Johnnie Langendorff were an integral part of the POS's inability to do so.

"Not one more" is the only number that is significant in the actions of Mr. Willeford.

For you to even suggest anything different is despicable and shameful. You should probably delete your account and start over, not that it would probably help. Be sure to apologize first.

Inside the Texas church, she thought it was her turn to die. Then outside, a man appeared.

If you cannot see that evil scored points, but that good prevailed on that day, that’s sad.

More people need to be prepared to oppose evil. Don't just think about pistol calibers. Think about shotgun gauges, unusual steel slugs, and rifles in a respectable hunting caliber.

I put an EOTech on my AR last year after I finally saved up enough. As much as I"m impressed my the clones I've been using, the clarity and sharpness of the dot in the EOtech really stands out.

Amazing how the same inanimae objects come across so differently depending on the framing of the conversation. An EOTech in the media's articles will sound like some futuristic lazer guided system meant for death and destruction.
