Purchased a Bushmaster AR-15 with an A2 upper. I would like to swap it for an A4 upper. A complete upper receiver is close to what I paid for the whole rifle so I wanted to just change the upper receiver assembly. Would a Rock River Arms A4 upper work with the Bushmaster lower? The RRA upper has the forward assist and port door already installed. Also, any idea what a gunsmith would generally charge to swap the parts from the A2 to the A4? I know it would vary from gunsmith to gunsmith, just looking for a general price if anyone has any experience. Thank you in advance.

The RRA upper should work just fine on a Bushy lower, but you will have to find a gunsmith and ask what he/she would charge for the work. There really isn't that much to it, basically just disassembling the A2 and then reassembling the parts on the A4, so hopefully the cost wil be minimal.

it should just be 2 pins and the BCG and you're done.

    he wants the upper changed,

not just swap out complete barreled upper,

it involves taking the barrel out without damaging the finish,

along with reusing the components on it, or for extra money replacing them,

its not easy but its not hard,

but i would say probably 100 bucks if the smith is familar with ar's ,

and 150 if he has to monkey with it
