I know, I was all interested because I've got a full house build coming up that I don't know what to do with. I've already got 3 hard Chromed guns so I was looking for something a bit different.

MD357- Which of your gun finishes do you feel is the most durable,as far as showing wear.Is it your hard chrome guns? also what finish you been thinkin most about your new build.

Honestly, I have yet to experience anything that really beats HC in anti-corrosion AND durability. I know that's boring but that's the way it is. My dad has a Colt that he carries that was HC'ed in the 90s and it looks new. Melonite would be my next choice but Drakes gun works stopped doing it and they did some REALLY pretty work. However, the new NP3 plus has my eye but I'll be honest.... most of the wonder finishes.... Ionbond, Bearcoat (aka Baercoat) Black T, NP3, Amor-Tuff, etc etc will serve a majority of purposes and to be honest most of these companies are great to deal with so if you acually DO have a problem they'll take care of you. We are lucky to have so many choices IMHO.

As far as what I'm deciding on, I'm up in the air.... part of me just wants a "black" finish so I'm leaning towards Bearcoat as I had a TRP Operator finished in it and it turned out REALLY well.

Yep, I've owned an Ionbonded gun and I really dig Ionbond but it IS porous and I'm one of those guys that can rust a gun by looking at it. So corrosion protection is the priority for me.

A friend of mine is like that,.....he's a sweaty Cajun.
He had had great luck with NP3. The new NP3-Plus looks promising as well!

Yeah, I found that out later as this thread is a year old. I eventually went with NP3+ on my latest custom because I heard too many inconsistent things about CCA.
