What in the holy hell is Hornady thinking?! I mean, it's funny, but they could use their resources on better projects. Although, the goal is to make money, and I'm sure that crap will sell like hot-cakes. They glow in the dark? Somehow, I find myself drawn to the zombie ammo. I might have to buy and pull a box of .40S&W to load some hot 10mm for killing zombie wax tubes.

Not sure if it belongs in this thread or if I should start a new one, but it does fall under the Hornady new line up title.

Well, here it goes.... Among the new ammo from Hornady is a 10mm critical defense cartridge. Here are the specs:

Velocity (fps) / Energy (ft-lbs)

MUZZLE 50 100
1225/550 1097/442 1010/373

I am still in the learning curve, but it does not come across to me as being very hot. Maybe medium? Also, looks like it can only be purchased via Cabelas, who in my experience are very pricey.

If I should have started a new thread, my apologies.

It might not be very hot, but you can bet it hits the speed on the box. I would say it's a medium load. I use this as a pretty accurate guide to stoutness. The guide is at the bottom in bright colors. Scroll down.

You're right, it is not very hot. That ammo is 165gr @ 1225 fps. As a comparison, Swamp Fox's hot ammo is in the 780-thru-800+ ft/lbs range. I don't think Swamp Fox has a 165gr bullet to compare to, but he has good stuff in a variety of flavors.

Even the slowest of 10mm ammo is at or above 40S&W performance!

Loadings from SwampFox, BuffaloBore and DoubleTap including the stuff I crank out, and some of the handloaders here would absolutely vaporize any Zombies!

However if Hornady did offer this in 10mm I would purchase some just for the heck of it!<!-- Signature -->

I sent them a note from the "contact us" part of the Hornady's website explaining my disappointment that they didn't include 10mm to this lineup!:steamed: And added the fact that I would have purchased a case or more had they made it avalible in our favorite cartridge! I also explained that even the slowest 10mm would be up to the task of eradicating Zombies! :wow:
