i cleaned my 23 today and looked at where the slide recoils up against the frame and while its not cracked there is a sliver of plastic that is starting to separate, right now its about the size of the tip of a flat toothpick and about 1/8" long.

i put a dab of gorilla glue on it and pressed the sliver in, just wondering if i should get a buffer just to prevent any further degeneration.

im not concerned about it at the moment but i dont want to have to be concerned with it, just looking to ease my mind.

How many rounds have you put through that gun?

I sent both my G22 and G23 in to Glock with the same problem and they replaced the frames (tho my SN do not match).

Buffer is a good thought to prevent it.

I've got a recoil buffer in mine. I haven't fired enough rounds threw it to say that it helps but, it can't hurt.

How many rounds on the recoil spring?
Might time for a new one.
How far it throws the empties would be a clue.

    Good Luck

    Police trade in.

Do what I did, point out the problem when you send it in.........they will give you a Gen3 frame, and tune up the gun.

Send in your mags--they will replace those too.

Happy day--- you got a good situation.

the reason i bought used is because i prefer the gen2 frame, sending it in would be my last resort. i'll throw a buffer in and call it gtg. right now i dont think the recoil area on the frame is compromised but i dont want it to get worse. the buffer should help.

Wilson buffers for the Glock are designed properly. Give them a try.

Mine is getting a little I wouldn't say "beat up", but it's definitely being hit by the slide. I'll try and get a picture. I've wondered about this though and while I'm not concerned about it wasn't sure if it's considered normal wear or not. I have about 2000 rounds through my Glock 22.

AK's look like that even without a buffer. Come to think of it, AR's probably do too. You do have to start thinking about a new barrel around that time tho.

You can't glue nylon. Have you thought about trying a stronger recoil spring? As for the buffers, there have been a lot of previous posts, mostly negative, and you might want to do a search.
