He was a classic portraying a "drunk".
I actually still have a couple of vinyl LPs of him -
Loved him on the Dean Martin Roasts.
Too bad he would not be allowed in the PC world that is entertainment today.
Today, his shtick would have to be a cokehead or a tweaker.

A long long time ago when I was just a pup, family was watching Johnny Carson and Foster came on. My mother was convinced that he actually was drunk and was not acting!
Loved to watch Foster.
My mother was very anti-alcohol - and abhorred Foster Brooks for the same reason - she thought there was no reason he was that good of a fake!

I met him at my then parents-in-law's house back in the mid 80's. My ex FIL was VP of Bagley baits at the time and used to take various celebrities out fishing. Mr. Brooks was a lot bigger than I thought he would be. Also a very nice man and if I remember correctly, he never drank at all.
I remember him...one funny dude.
