Looks like fun. I did not go to observe the Dream Cruise this year again. There are some great buggies at that event. I love the old cars.

This bagged Beetle stood out. I’ve always liked tastefully done VW’s. I wouldn’t mind owning a Squareback someday.

Been working on one for a couple of years.

Man oh, Man! This was the car I learned to drive in. Looks just like it. Column shift, three-speed. I called her the "TANK". I had my first "accident" with her when a ***** rich-kid cut in front of me in the HS parking lot. Barely any damage to the Tank but that kid's new Dodge was torn all the hell. Good times! 😁

Every thinking person should own an older vehicle without all the modern tech…it might become all you can use to get around without walking or riding a bicycle.

My dad is a collector and used to restore classics. This was something we did together when I was in HS. During my HS years I drove a '50 Olds with a 3 speed manual transmission. He still has a few of his favorites, but at 80+ is just too old to work on them anymore. But these are cars from his generation. And the cars from my generation are not really such works of art, and like a Glock, a vehicle is just a tool for me. So, I suspect as time marches on, fewer and fewer car enthusiasts will remain.
