Anyone know why Glock doesn't make a midsize .45 ACP?

Like a G38...but in ACP? I love the GAP, but am nervous of the ammo situation in the future. I was just curious why Glock doesn't offer their midsize frames on the .45 ACP or 10mm?

Even though they call it a subcompact, the 30 is about the same size (just slightly larger) as the 19/23/38.

You mean slightly smaller right? The 30 is smaller from what I have read.

Check out the G21/G30/G19 specs at www.teamglock.com and then tell us exactly what size you would like a mid-sized .45acp to be.

Some variation of this question seems to get asked every day.

Either why doesn't Glock make a true subcompact .45, or why doesn't Glock make a mid-sized .45. Obviously, people don't look carefully enough at the Glock 30 to figure this out. The Glock 30 is nearly the exact same size as the Glock 19/23/32, but is thicker.

Glock CALLS it a subcompact, b/c it shares certain characteristics with the Glock 26/27/33, such as the short grip. But believe me, it is a lot bigger than those baby Glocks.

The 30/36 are a great size as far as the slide goes. I wish they'd make the grip longer, though. The G30+ and G36+. I'll take 5% profit for the name idea - thanks.

I guess my real question is, are the height stats for the 30 including the magazine which appears to be a usable extension for the grip?

What's your definition of mid-size? Do you mean bigger or smaller than a 36 or 30?

By mid-size I am referring to what Glock calls their "Compact" class...not "Sub-Compact". The Glock 30 is 4.76 inches tall. Do you know if this measurement includes the magazine? The mag appears to function similar to a 27 mag with the pinky extension. If the frame is 4.76 inches and then the magazine extends it more, than the 30 may be the answer I am looking for!

The G36 magazine has an extension. The 9 round G30 magazine does not but the 10 round magazine does. The thinner, lighter G36 slide and barrel will fit and function on a G30 frame.

Checkout Hickok45 on Youtube. One of his recent vids he compares the 9's, 40's, 10mm, and 45's. Plus its fun to what him shoot, he is awesome with Glocks.

The 30 is about 4-3/4" with a nine round magazine and about 5-1/8" with a 10 round mag. At least that's what mine measures. It is almost exactly the same size with a 10 rounder as the G23 with a 13 round mag. With the 9 round mag, my pinky finger goes under the mag plate. I get a full grip with a ten round magazine. So in my opinion, the G30 is a medium sized (compact) pistol. The G36 is a medium sized, slim pistol and Glock doesn't make a sub-compact or small .45acp.

I think I have seen him...isn't he the guy that hits the metal target with a G23 from a standing position...at 230 yards?!?! :wow:

...but honestly, even though I love the gun, one should feel just as satisfied with a , say Glock 23... Full grip, .40 biggish bore, more rounds, and thinner...

The G30 is the perfect size (for me). With the 9 round mag you get a solid 2 finger grip. With the 10 round mag, or the addition of a Pearce grip it's almost exactly the same size as the '19/'23

G30 with 9 round mag and Pearce PG29 extension:

and with the 10 round mag:

    No problem. I think you'd enjoy a G30 or G30SF. I love mine.
