Wisely noted good Sir.
I haven’t made bread in years. Then my wife became diabetic.
She’s been asking me to make some for months. She’s just waking up from surgery, think I’ll surprise her tonight.
One of the reason I make bread... try and find bread made without some sugar... also for a while the bride needed no salt in foods.
Whole wheat makes a good balance with low glycemic index
I make a no-knead bread really similar to this on my gas grill. This video shows how easy it is:
I use a bread machine to mix the dough for sweet rolls but that's about it. There is a pumpkin cranberry walnut bread I make every fall but you just mix that up in a bowl and pour the batter into loaf pans to bake. I love bread, but eat very little of it.
I love cornbread hot out of the oven with melted butter on top.
Me too. It is a rare treat.
I made some last night. I like to rub butter onto the bottom of the pan I use before pouring in the batter...... I like butter on both sides!
I make it in a cast iron pan with melted butter in the bottom, too.
Going off on a tangent because cornbread was mentioned, my brother in law loves the stuff.
He got invited to a BBQ once that turned out to be vegetarian when he got there. He took the whole pan of cornbread and sat down at the table, ate the whole thing. Told them they should have either warned him there was no meat, or not invited him.
Yellow cake and cornbread look a lot alike. He took a piece of cake before he realized the cornbread was at the other end of the table, so now we make both for him and set them side by side at family gatherings.
Another 50-minutes till the banana nut bread can come out of the oven...
Today’s loaf for our adult kids who asked for it.
