Anyone had an Apple Store replace the battery in their iPhone?

I have an iPhone 6. It works well for what I need, but the battery is getting weak. By the end of the day it is in low-power mode, and that is with not a lot of usage during the day. I don't plan to get rid of this phone for a while if I can help it.

Has anyone here had one of the Apple stores do a battery replacement? From what I have seen it doesn't look like something I would be any good at doing - it requires a bit of a delicate touch that I just don't have. What was the turnaround time? Experience with dealing with them?

The other option I have considered is a battery case. I have an Otterbox Resurgance but it has gone downhill - now it can only boost the phone by about 20% - ie it can get it from 20% to 40%.

There is an Apple store in Greenville that is pretty close.

My wife and I both had our batteries replaced in our 6s phones. It was due to the recall though. It's pretty straightforward stuff. Make an appointment, back up your phone, drop it off. I think it took about 2 hours. Ours was a free replacement, but I think it was $80-90 if you had to pay for it yourself.

I think they quote $79.00. AFAIK there is no recall on these phones, but I think the Otterbox may have damaged the battery.

You are right. The recall was only for some 6s phones. The new batteries are excellent though. It might be worth it to bite the bullet and get a new one installed.

I had the battery replaced in my wife's 6s at a non Apple Store. They had replaced a couple of screens for her and did a great job...it was under $100 and they did it while I ate lunch next door. Her original battery was damaged, we think, from a Mophie case.

Agreed. I changed the battery on my friend's iPhone. Took me 20 minutes give or take while watching a YouTube to get it done. First time I've opened up an iPhone too. So it's very easy imo.

Easy if you dissect brains or small animals on a daily bases.

Yeah - I'd screw that up.

I can handle car repair, home repair, can even weld a little bit - but delicate little electronic things are just not something I am any good with.

Plus the 6 doesn't go together like previous ones - I think it uses adhesive instead of screws.

Well, for work I used to dissect brains of small animals... so I guess that counts....

The adhesive on the battery is like those pull strips that release the wall hangers.

Ah, to be at that tender age of 16 again and still have the choice of becoming a serial killer or an Apple store employee.

Last time my phone started using up batter fast, it ended up being an app running in the background. I don't remember what app it was, but I deleted it and battery usage went back to normal.
    You might check that first.
I found it with another free app that let me monitor system activity. I think it was SYS Lite, but I may be wrong on that.

    Settings - battery

Tells you what % of battery each item used - it gives you some idea what is burning your battery -

If Maps is using a lot of battery and you have not been using maps you can turn it off.

I had Siri sucking my battery so I turned her off - even when Siri is off it still used a couple %.

Siri does not talk to me since I asked her how old she was.
