i would get a good leather belt..... this coming from another fat man.... the tactical belts tighten with friction and are a pain if your overweight trying to get the friction tab to release the belt. When I wore one I wore it with the buckle at the 10' oclock position so it was easier access.

Ugly Bald Guy makes a good leather belt or I am sure alot of GT sponsers would step up and make a harness for your gat :)

I have a number of UBG holsters Mark, the quality is very good. I've been thinking about getting a belt from him myself.

I have two Wilderness 5-stitch belts (black and coyote brown) and I like them for casual wear. I only wish they make one in dark brown. If you can wait, Wilderness usually has the 5-stitch upgrade for free around certain holidays. Not a big savings ($5) but savings nonetheless.

If I needed a leather belt in the same ball park price-wise as the Wilderness, then I'd look at http://www.looperlawenforcement.com/looper-reinforced-holster-belt.html. I don't have one but have seen lots of recommendations on GT. My leather gun belts are 1.5" from Rafter S but I don't hear much good about their "customer service" lately so I would not recommend them. When I need 1.25" leather belts, TheBeltman will likely get my business, but they do start at double the cost of the Wilderness belts.

Wilderness makes a great belt. Buy w/ confidence. I keep one around here for camping/fishing, etc. when I don't want to mess up my leather. The velcro is pretty well thrashed after 4-5yrs and getting caught in some crazy downpours, but it still functions perfectly.

I'd strongly advise a thorough search before going w/ Looper. There was a LOT of complaints about them here not to long ago.

+1 My tacticals seem to always tear open on the end from trying to push it under belt loops, after velcroed secure. Leather duty belts are quite abundant on e-bay but are noisy for tact. situations: lots of creaking. Maybe wilderness is a step above in quality from 5.11, etc.?

used wilderness belts for about 10 years...i have no desire to shop for anything else, it does it all, it lasts and is rugged, supports my G-20 well. Maybe i will upgrade to the CSM model, but i do not NEED it.

I have a 5-stitch 1 3/4" model I have used for IDPA for the past 6 years or so and I just ordered a black 1 1/2" Frequent Flyer because I am sick of taking off my belt at the airport. Oddly enough I have a Milt Sparks belt in brown that has a nickel buckle that has yet to set one off. Both my black leather belts must have some steel in the buckles because they'll set it off.

If you're buying one for casual wear, I'd go with the Frequent Flyer as the buckle on the tactical models can dig in sometimes.

As far as quality goes...not a worry with Wilderness...
