I'm headed to Artesia (flying in to Roswell) Wednesday for work and won't be leaving until Saturday afternoon.

Are there any "gotta go" places to eat or anything?

The only caveat is I'm completely disinterested in UFOs and the UFO history of Roswell and the surrounding areas.

I won't have huge amounts of time on my hands but I'll have Friday night and Saturday morning/early afternoon.

    What say ye?

    You're kidding, right?

You might go down to Carlsbad and visit the big hole in the ground. I'll be a nice trip. I've been their twice.

There has to be some good food or a club or SOMETHING!

I mean I know it's one of those towns that only exists because of Lackland AFB but, surely, there must be something.

Hookers and blow. Note, this will work for many other locations as well.

I'm only going to be there a couple of days. It isn't like I'm being re-assigned.

To be fair it was a number of years ago that I went there to work. Hopefully you will find something other than coyote love.

Step 1. Find a liquor store.
Step 2. Buy a case of beer; maybe two cases.
Step 3. Order take out pizza.
Step 4. Return to hotel room with pizza and beer.
Step 5. Consume beer and pizza while watching TV in hotel room.
Step 6. Don't drive after drinking the beer.
    Step 7. Crash.
    :drink:

Then stay in the motel and party when you get home.

Your flying to Roswell. Remember that didn't work out too well for the aliens.

See if you can get a tour of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.... It's in Artesia.

Or see if there are any private classes utilizing the facility? (Doubt it...)

Artesia is a good chance to catch up on your reading...there's only one reason I know of that people go there on purpose, so enjoy your time. The training there is superb.

It's been a few years since I was there. There were a few restaurants in town and it seemed like the locals all went to Roswell for social life. The gym there was great and mess hall had really decent eats and a lot of choices.

Good news is you're picking a good time of the year to be there. I was there in June and it was 111. Yeah, it was a dry heat, but I still looked forward to the indoor classes.

Go to a brewpub called the Wellhead. Nice place. Had a good time there a couple of nights.

Oh, and check your shoes for spiders before you put them on.

Aahh, not to sound like an a**, but Lackland AFB?? That is San Antonio. There is no AFB near there, only one close is Holloman and that is on the other side of the Lincoln National Forest, outside of Alamogordo.

You do have Carlsbad Caverns south of Artesia, it is a good drive, but the bats at night are cool coming out of the cave.

I have to agree with the suggestions of White sands or the Caverns. Other than that I'm thinking cheetos and pron.:tongueout::rofl::wavey:
