I know some rental companies have sports cars. Has anyone ever rented one on vacation? Are they a total rip off? Are they worth it?

    Thanks!:)

    Oh sweet!! :wow:

If you're going to rent a Porsche over there you gotta take it on the Autobahn...did you? Don't you need a special license for it?

Now I did mean to ask about just the US, but what you did was pretty nice to. ;)

    Thanks!

Europcar.com (the company I use) lists the Fiat Panda at $52/day and a Porsche Boxster at $619/day. HH

I have not. I would consider renting a Jeep Wrangler for a weekend vacation if anyone offered one.

A friend of mine is coming to Tampa to see me on April 22nd. He rented an A8. No big deal (to me).

If you really want to drive a sportscar, then rent one and go out on a racetrack. Enjoy the experience of driving the car for it's intended purpose.

If you just want everyone to "ooohh" and "ahhh" you when you pull up at a restaurant then don't bother...it'll be obvious the car is a rental.

The picture is a 'R8' not an A8. The A8 is comparable to the BMW 7 series...a bigger 4 door car. Hertz is the only big player that I know that rents sports cars. I think they have some Vettes and higher output Mustangs. Once you get to Miami or some of the other bigger cities there are local companies that rent higher end sports cars.

I remember when I was flying into Miami with my boss, I told him our standard rental car company was booked and I had to rent with some no name company and then I showed him their ad in the airplane magazine. He about had a heart attack and told me I better cancel that rental.

you can rent Anything in Vegas..2 legged to 4 wheeled. lol.

I went pretty mild, just a little ole T-bird. and yes it got raced up and down the strip. Rental cars should be tested for quality and durabilty.

I got to drive all kinds of fun cars while working at the Ocean Reef Club. Notable was Carl Lindner's 1979 Stutz Bearcat.

I rented a Mustang to see if I wanted to buy one. I bought one, so I considered it worth it.

Thats one of my dreams honestly. Id love to rent a 911 turbo and take it on the Ring. Unfortunately most rental companies frown on that. There are a few though, it is expensive though.

My brother rented a Shelby GT350H in 1969.....It had slick tires when he returned it. He didn't just burn up the rears, he switched front to back and burnt them up too.

I rented a Mazda Miata for a week while my car was in the body shop. It was alot of fun to drive. I'd love to own one someday.
