I discovered the Intel NUC mini computers and have now assembled two. I started with an 8th Gen i3 kit (tall) then decided I wanted an 8th Gen i5 (tall). I outfitted them with plenty of RAM (8GB, 16GB) and Samsung SSD drives. Both are incredibly fast. I outfitted the i5 with a M.2 NVMe SSD and it is super fast.

I bought my NUCs on Amazon for very reasonable prices. I assembled both for less than $475 each (w/Windows 10). Assembly was very easy. I don't think I'll ever want to buy a full-size CPU again.

BTW, the i3 processor was working plenty fast in my normal use. I found a great price on an i5 and thought it might be better suited for the photo and video editing I do.

Finally got the storage and ram in. Just have to power it up and install Linux.
