Anyone else on here like pre-ban HKs?
I moved to AZ in 96 to work for an airline. Wasn't making much money. I used to go to the big Crossroads of the West gun show. There used to be tables of H&K stuff. I wish I had the money to buy some class 3 stuff this dealer used to have. It was expensive but nothing like it is now. He had a few tables of stuff every show. There would always be a few people carrying one , looking to trade/sell. Back then the demand for the rifles was big. Always liked the G3. Neighbor behind me had a nice MP5 Navy (full auto) I don't see HK rifles often in Central, TX.
He'll need that when he steals his .5s vette.Closest I got is a decent cetme,can't afford those 2 letters.'08.
Cheating a little...
These are pre-ban - pre-"machine gun ban" that is.
These are three of my most prized guns.
These are 100% factory original guns that I can keep for life even thought I gave up my FFL/SOT years ago. They are pre-86 DS guns.
There is an MP5 A3 in F configuration (factory converted from a standard MP5 A3, I'm a former HK Adjunct Tac Med Insctuctor so they did it for me when I was there), an SD and my most prized, a K.
The other can in the pic is one of the very rare 100% original HK/KAC SD Navy cans serial numbered to the gun. This is the original, real-deal SD Navy can that appeared in the HK Govt/LE/Mil catalog.
The K is one of less than 15 or so ever imported into the US prior to the ban.
I have some pre-ban semis as well but these are my absolute favorites.
Very very cool, your MGs leap-frog my 41!
Different beasts. Your 41 is simply amazing. I've drooled over that pic many times already. Just incredible. Such a fantastic piece of history.
Forgot to mention...
The SD was one of the DOE guns. SO glad that the DOE let these out or there would be SO few of them.
The SD Navy HK/KAC can is still 100% NIB.
The K looks virtually unfired. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have found it in the early 90s.
You have a G41? The one with the forward assist and M16 magazine?
No, a Model 41- one of the early semi-auto versions of the G3, pictured in initial post, not the 80s-vintage G41.
I like 'em, but I don't own one, unfortunately.
Nice... would love a hk94....
My brother had an HK94 (5.56) back in the early 80's that he got in a trade for a car and then later traded it for a boat. It was a nice rifle and now he wishes he still had it. My nephew shot it when he was about 5 years old.
But my favorite pre-ban HK was the SL7 carbine made from the early 80's until 1991. They came with 3 round and 10 round mags and were meant to be a hunting rifle but had a military appearance with a ventilated handguard.
The HK-94 was and still is a 9mm carbine patterned after the MP-5.
