Don't own one, but it's not a new idea. I have seen them before and was always on the fence as to whether or not I thought it could be useful in a real osh moment.

I'd think a 3D cell Maglite and a good pair of Damascus patrol gloves would be a better walking companion than the clipboard. What security guard isn't allowed a Maglite?, surely that's allowed, for lighting purposes of course.

The original, old school ballistic clipboard....

Wald's Police Supply in Dallas had one on display with a dozen bullets stuck in it. .22-.45 as I recall. I remember part of the sales pitch was using it as a weapon using the top edge for a throat strike. Likely pretty effective. Big 'ol slab of Plexiglass.

Wald's Police Supply. Now that is a blast from the past. My basketweave Safariland holster for my 6inch 586 came from there.

I used to carry a panel in the spare report part of my Saunders clipboard. I never needed it to stop a bullet; but I did smash an attacking pitbull's head with it once.

Tried to PM you. Not working.

Very cool patent search of "Safariland Ballistic Shield". Well, cool because I'm a nerd about old cop stuff and I have one of those clipboards.

Just curious, I may have this wrong... you will be authorized a weapon (I assume a gun?), but you can't carry a taser or pepper spray?

That's true. Everything has a separate authorization process.

Received my clipboard. Awesome. Looks professional. Clip can be removed by 2 Chicago Screws. $50 including shipping is a bargain
