At 8 inches it should be short enough so that you won't have to take it off every time you break the rifle down for cleaning.

Try a Primary Arms M3 or M4 clone. No magnification. Built really solid. In the same price range.

...you will tear the Barska off in disgust when it stops working.

I tried these cheap scopes whn I was a newbie.

I cannot recommend a Barska scope -- at any price (even for free)....

Why would you have to take a scope of any length off of any AR15 for cleaning?

I don't care if it's 3 feet long it can still stay in place when you pop the 2 pins out and remove the BCG. The scope is not in the way of dis-assembly and there is plenty of room to clean from under it.

Here's a full sized 3-9X scope on my sons AR15, it doesn't get in the way of cleaning.

Only gun I ever had to remove the scope to clean was an old Charter Arms AR17 that's scope mount was the action side plate.

To answer the OP's question, Barska does not make a high quality scope. I wouldn't put one on a rifle I intended for serious use.

As I read it, the OP said he was putting it on a Kel Tec SU16, not an AR-15. I was still wondering what the problem would be, so I Googled this up:

    http://www.heypete.com/pete/shooting/keltecsu16b.html

The photos in disassembly step #4 show the problem with longer scopes on this weapon.

    DJ,

Don't know how I missed AR15 vs SU16 (That's what I get for posting after my bed time).

You are correct. That's a stupid design on the Kel-tec.
