I love the Colt SAA. It is a classic. They do not hold up as well as a Ruger or some of the new clones if you are going to shoot SASS. There is just something about those four clicks as you cock a SAA.

I've got a Taurus single action in .357/38. It's been a great gun. It has the smoothest trigger I've ever felt on a stock revolver, and it's got the 4-click hammer to boot.
I know people on this site love to slam the Taurus, but I'm a fan of this one!

I have had more trouble with Rooooooger vaqueros than I have with my Colt's or USFA pistols. I think it boils down to the 'smith that puts 'em together for ya'. A good 'smith will build up a single action with correct dimensions, which will not lead to failure down the line.

If you ever saw a good shooter run a single action pistol, you would have serious qualms about there ever having been a need to design anything else. Five shots in 1.5 seconds from leather is hard to beat with any newer fangled contraption.

a real Colt SAA is an icon of gun making and history- every serios guy person should have at least one. I agree they are not as durable as more modern designs like the ruger as a general rule, but they have that hard to define style and feel that makes every cowboy buy one sooner or later. If I had the cash SAA's would be one of my focuses in gun collecting or accumulating- especially 1st generation guns with history- only have one of those currently

Love the SAA variants.

Would love a US Firearms Double Eagle
or
Colt SAA
or
Ruger new vaquero sheriff in 44 special
or
any US Firearms Single action army

Had a Uberti Cattleman once.....ONCE!
timing sucked, and the hand broke...

Original Colts would be great...if you have the money!

1934 Gen 1 SAA .45LC 7.5" Rubber Blue. My dad got this new from his father, then down to me, and one day to my daughter and so on. And yes, I am a fan.

I've had a few and kept a couple....my USFA is very nice, I have 4 Uberti clones and a Pietta...one old Vaquero.
I had a nice 3rd Gen Colt SAA, but the build quality just wasn't there...I got rid of it and picked up a 2nd Gen 4 3/4", 45LC made in 1963 out in Tucson this past spring.

I'd love to have a USFA Gunslinger one day...or a Rodeo II.
