Check out this online radio link from KROQ playing the really good stuff from the 80s. What a dream come true.

Click on the "LISTEN LIVE" linkbar on the top.

Wow. . . outstanding. When I was stationed near Victorville back in the early 80's, I used to listen to KROQ religiously. I was amazed that I could even pick them up on a Panasonic AM/FM clock radio I had at the time. Thanks for the link--

I use to listen to KLOS and KMET back in those days.
I was into bands like Dokken and WASP, and use to hang out at the Rainbow in Hollywood.
KROQ was too Punk back then.

I don't think KROQ was ever punk, with Cindy Lauper, Tear for Fears... I made sure never to listen to KROQ, like you I listened to KMET (the mighty MET) and KLOS. Remember that KMET sponsored the US Festival!!!

One of the best rock stations ever in SoCal was KNAC, I think that you can still get on the tribute site at www.knac.com . If you're out in the Inland Empire there's 96.7 KCAL and 103.9 (don't know their call sign). If you're going to Vegas there's 96.9 The Rock to keep you going.

    KMET "The Mighty Met"

A couple years back my wife and I were watching an independent movie set in the 1980s and they mentioned KMET - it was pretty silly how excited I got!

I can't listen to the sludge they play these days. I haven't listened to KROQ since the mid-90's. My favorite DJ's from back then were "Poorman" and the Swedish Eagle.

    These days I listen to

Great station and eclectic. And yes, they play 70's punk thank you Lord!!! I dont' listen to them as often as I used to when they first started but its better than nothing, esp. if you dont' have something like XM.

    "little bit of heav'n 94.7, KMETTTTTT... Twidle-dee!"

I can't get that old tune out of my head. KROQ was good, but KNAC kicked everyone's azz.

Now it's 96.7 KCAL with Stu, Tiffany and Jimbo in the mornings!

Anyone notice that when you're in the L.A. area ALL of the radio stations suck???? KLOS lost it's edge over a decade ago. Too much liberal talk DJ's always wanting to talk about John Lennon and a bunch of hippie crap. Especially the DJ's at night.

Wow!! It is rare that I run into someone who actually remembers the US Festival. I was actually there on the first day (second series in May 1983). I won free tickets to all 3 of the primary days through a drawing sponsored by Licorice Pizza and B100 down in San Diego. The company who took us to San Bernardino really messed things up though with poor communications about what we should have brought with us for the 3 day stay. That coupled with the heat and a former girlfriend who did not tolerate the outdoors very well made for a short stay.

I was really in to rock back then, Ted Nugent, Scorpions, Judas Priest, UFO, etc. and could care less about the bands I saw on that day. I later started listening to KROQ and 91X as well as KLOS, KMET, and KEZY AM. Now it is pretty cool to know that I saw bands like INXS, Wall of Voodoo, Flock of Seagulls, the Clash, and many others in the same day. Looking back I wish I had just stayed all 3 days and the girlfriend be damned. We didn't stay together anyway.

Wow- Old school- US Fes, KMET, 91X, KROQ and Licorice Pizza. I used to hang out at the one in HB on Brookhurst and Adams. I still have a receipt from a tape I bought there.

I think the PoorMan is still doing some radio somewhere in So. Cal.

If you haven't tried satellite radio, you're missing out. Sirius was already mentioned and I have XM. Fred(station name) plays a lot of the stuff you used to hear on KROQ and then some. I hear songs from a lot of these older bands but cuts that you never heard on the radio. Lucy (another station) plays a lot of the older stuff as well. For newer alternative there is Ethel (Fred, Lucy, and Ethel but no Ricky).
