From the early 90's. I think Lew Horton sold them from S&W's Custom Shop. IIRC it was built on a 6900 series 9mm frame, so it was a good bit more compact than the other S&W .40's. Supposedly had a match-grade barrel and was pretty accurate.

I remember seeing an add for one ~$700+ back in like '92. That was a healthy chunk of change for me back then and I never got around to getting one.

Any of you guys have or had one? Like it?

You can find them on Gunbroker from time to time. I remember them but never had much experience with one.

You're from my (original) neck of the woods. Youngstown area. Harley-Davidson shop on Mahoning Ave. had a Shorty Forty in stock they had ordered for a customer and I drooled over it. Outa my price range at that time. :crying:

That seller is high as a kite! You would be better of getting a police trade in 4006 for around a third of the price. Its like a g26 vs g19, not much difference in size.

The ones I remember had the stainless slide and aluminum frame. Gray on gray. That one is likely one of the "newer" ones.

Yeah, they pop up now and then.

They were built by the Performance Center.
