I've been watching for a solid 10 years now, trained BJJ for around 5. Just wondering if anyone else in here was into it?

Absolutely!!!....been watching from the beginning. My oldest daughter and her husband are huge fans. Now it’s the ONLY professional sport I can get behind. In fact, the main reason I got ESPN+ was to be able to get UFC PPV.

We actually have a number of good clubs here that put on amateur matches. A heck of a lot of fun to go watch. One of the kids I coached in roller hockey in the early nineties grew up to own a big BJJ school here and started inviting me to the matches a while back. Unfortunately all that on hold now with COVID.

Love it! I remember when they first started there were no weight classes. It's come a long way since then.

I'm old school and I liked regular boxing a lot better back in the days when we had fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard and heavyweights like Muhamed Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Eric 'Butterbean" Esch.

MMA has pretty much replaced boxing and I could never get into it.

I used to be a much bigger fan but MMA -- UFC especially -- is so watered down and boring now. All my favorite fighters are long retired or washed up now. My good friend was the head coach at a local MMA gym here in AZ. A few of his guys were/are still in the UFC but he retired from it now and does private security for rich people.

    Since the mid nineties.

Haven’t trained for awhile but involved in various Martial arts off and on since about the same time.

Long time fan of MMA. Great way to stay fit and develop basic self-defense skills. That said, being a "sport", it has inherent limitations (no eyes, throat, groin, etc. and no multiple attackers). To mitigate those limitations, I recommend blending in some Target Focus Training or Injury Dynamics in order to inflict quick and effective injury and/or death in a life threatening situation. With trusted training partners you can safely practice both at the same time.

Also a plug for my friend/training partner's book, which incorporates some Injury Dynamics techniques:

Been watching since UFC1. Love it, it's the only sport I watch.

Yeah great fun watching two people beat the crap out of each other. Don't have to watch it on TV just go to a protest march.

As a high school student I boxed in the Golden Gloves and enjoyed the sport. I was always a fan of the "sweet science". I never had a close relationship with my father but we did watch the Gillette Friday Night Fights together. Those are the best memories that I have with him. I have never been a fan of any of the MMA type fights, it just reminds me too much of human pit bull fights. I realize there is a great deal of still and training but not my cup of tea.

yes, I'm a big fan. MMA has made boxing obsolete in terms of viewing. But it was really satisfying to watch floyd mayweather school the young conor mcgregor on the skills of striking. And Conor is one of the most gifted strikers in MMA.

I’m a huge fan, but only started watching in October 2018.

Last night, I watched all of Chimaev’s fights going back to the Sweden regional scene. That dude is unbefnlievable!
He has RUN THROUGH everyone he has fought so far. I think he has taken fewer than 10 significant strikes in his entire career.

All of his old fights are on Youtube.

Who you got, Costa or Adesanya?

This was the 1st fight I ever saw, lol. I've been a big MMA fan ever since. Bas is actually the one calling the fight.
