I successfully set up my linksys wireless router and it works great, but I bought a netgear print server and installed it and it says it is good to go, the printer works from the PC no problem, but nothing happens when I try to print from the laptop, when I try to add a printer vista says it cant find one.
Edit, I was wrong, the test page on the setup software prints, but the printer wont print in normal operation.

are the prntsrvr and the printer vista compatible? Doublecheck.

    Is the desktop running vista?

My understanding is that ALL of the PCs that access the printer must have the printer driver loaded. Some PCs will not automatically load a driver if they can't find a printer, and that sounds like what is happening here. Get out your printer installation disk and run it on each computer that can't currently access the printer. That's where I would start, anyway. Good luck!

The printer it turns out is a two year old hp and is definitely NOT vista compatible, so I guess I gotta go to the hp site and see if there is a driver for it, this crap drives me nuts, what keeps you IT guys from being in a constant state of going postal?

HP deskjet 3745, I plugged it into the laptop directly and it found the driver in vista and loaded it, still trying to get it to actuall print something though.

Sounds like you're not printing to the printer port.

It could be that your Netgear print server creates it's own port.

What I usually see is a standard TCP/IP port.

Go back to the desktop, look at the printer properties...see what type of port you're printing to there. If it's a TCP/IP port, add that port to the laptop.

You should be able to use the driver you have, or to test, select the "generic" driver.
