hawserdr,

Cliff and Janet (the owners/operators of gunfinder.net) are great folks. I work 5 min from their office, and have done quite a few transfers through them. In fact, I bought my G26 from them just to support what I've come to think of as "my local shop." They don't have a storefront per se, just an office, as they do most of their business over the net, but they've always been responsive to my (sometimes rather odd) queries, and ALWAYS very helpful and professional.

They know me by name now, and when I have stuff on order, Janet will call my work, home, then pager to let me know when my goodies arrive.

$10 transfers, 10% over dealer cost, and the ability and willingness to order just about anything. Great folks.

Buy with confindence. The Crippens' are good people.

I ordered a handgun from Gunfinder a few years ago. They promptly responded to my emails and were a pleasure to do business with. I was very happy with both the price and their service. You should not lose any sleep dealing with these people!

Well, here's the flipside to what I think of Gunfinder. I know the gentleman above me with severly disagree with what I have to say, but this is what happened to me.

I ordered a Kahr .40 Covert from them. I elected to drive there and pick the gun up. It was nearly a 2 hour drive for me. I had obtained wrong directions to get there and was in contact with Cliff telling him I was running late as a result. He said he would wait for me. As I approached his store, I rang to tell him I would be there. I turned up at 9.06pm and found a note on his door saying he'd left at 9pm. Conveniently, his cellphone was now switched off. I had to turn around and drive the 1.75 hours back home. Waste of an evening.

I called him the next day and we put that trip down to communication errors. Technically it WAS my fault as I was the one who was late for him, but he should have called me and told me that he had to leave. Especially as he knew how far I was driving just to see him. And, he probably didn't live too far away from the store. His shop is in a tiny town.

He said that his daughter was going to meet up with me later that week in Detroit and we would tranfer the gun there so I wouldn;t have to drive back again. She never called and despite repeated attempts to find out when she was coming, I could never get an answer.

I called Cliff back again to arrange getting the gun. I elected again (like an idiot!) to drive to his shop. I told him I would be there at 11.00am on the Saturday morning. Sure enough, I arrived a few minutes before 11am to make sure that I was there on time. He was nowhere to be found and his store was clearly closed. I waited over an hour and he never turner up (and his cell was off again...conveniently!), despite the fact that I spoke with him the previous evening telling him that I was definitely coming.

So, there you have it. No gun, nearly 8 hours wasted, frustration and miles on my car. All for nothing. I will never ever do business with gunfinder.net nor can I ever recommend him to anyone. The whole saga left a bitter taste in my mouth that I will never forget.

To top it off, the prices that he advertises his guns for on www.auctionarms.com aren't even cheap!

Just the facts as they happened.

Caveat emptor.
