Went fishing off of Kentucky Lake and noticed the asian carp are making their presence felt. The fisherman are doing the work and catching and killing as many as they can.

Has the problem reached any of y'all fishing wise?

We've always had carp problems up here in Illinois. In fact, I think they've pretty much ran off all the game fish in most of the rivers. Bastards.

Yeah they're starting down here in the lakes that the rivers flood into. Not too bad right now, but I'm sure it will be horrible in a few years. I wish there was something they could do to get rid of them. The river not far from my house isn't as bad as I've seen in videos from other rivers, but you're about guaranteed a couple in the boat in a 30 minute boat ride.

here is WI our fate (lake michigan fisheries) is in the hands of chicago. there are issues and a lack of courage to stop the invasive fish.

I think its not so much a matter of "whether" but rather "when" those little bastards infest Lake Michigan.

As if the lake already isn't practically a sport fish dead zone in the IL/IN area...

    Just snake heads around here.

But the good news is they hit about anything and taste good.

At least the snakeheads taste good. Carp is just crap switched around.

Little? I hear they have hurt people when they jump out of the water like they do, if nothing else they have added an aerial version of fishing that we have not had, Someday I would love to go Bowfishing for fish that are airborne!

With all the invasive species we have already I think we will have asian carp in Colorado before long also, and there is only one way it will get here, Humans.

I'd gladly trade an Asian carp infestation for a snakehead infestation. At least there's some sport fishing potential with snakeheads.
