Just shot another 200 rounds of Speer Lawman 124gr. That make 400 total. Big problems for the Glock and Gen 4 haters. THIS G17 GEN4 WAS FLAWLESS. What a soft smooth shooter this Gen4 is. One thing when I took the gun down to clean it. The recoil spring was stuck inside the front of the slide. I had to work it back and forth to get it out. Is this normal? Thanks Alex

Read my post from a few days ago. We all came to the conclusion it is normal. I think glock should have made the edge of the spring a bigger diameter as it gets stuck in the hole at the front of the slide.

I think they need to do a small redesign of the front of the spring.

the gun is ruined, haaha, Naw Im glad you had a good range session. I would be careful who you call Glock haters. Some people just hate the Gen 4 and some hate glocks all together. I would bet gen 4 haters arent really glock haters. They are just upset w/ the design. Yes some big company's make mistakes IE toyota. But dont abondone your roots. Glocks rock

On another note the mag springs are much better now. after 400 rounds I don't need the mag loader anymore.

Is the spring such that it might with time move further through the front of the slide? If yes, as soon as the rear of the assembly no longer touches the frame when the slide is fully forward, there will be nothing keeping it in battery and it would be a serious problem. If the spring design is such that the minimal penetration is all that is possible, then it may not be a big deal. However, if it no longer touches the lug upon removal, it must already have moved almost enough to cause the problem I mentioned. And let's not fool ourselves, it is in this "shortened" state while cycling/firing.

Does the spring come to a point as opposed to being a square cut on the end or something like that? Could you take a picture of the end of the spring?

Haters? If you really desire to feel like an oppressed minority get a 45 GAP, some Gapophiles have developed lamenting about their oppressed status to where it is almost a cult. http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1141500

Same here but with a Gen4 G22. Day I got it I cleaned the bore and put 400 rounds of reloads thru it without one single problem and it shoots very well.

Tomorrow night I hope to shoot another 200 rounds. The spring was still against the lug when I took the slide off. Tomorrow night I'll see about a picture when I take it down to clean it.

I see. In Zoti's case, he reported that it was already penetrating enough to shorten the spring and it was no longer touching the lug. Does it look like the amount of spring penetration is limited by the shape, or might it continue still further forward?

The same thing happens with my G27; where the dual recoil spring is difficult to remove at times.

My G17Gen4 has gone through 200 rounds and super flawless.

Any noticeable difference in recoil over a gen 3?

Only if I shoot my Gen3 and Gen4 together I find the Gen4 is a little softer.

I got to shoot someones' new Gen 4/RTF2/fancy backstrap thing at the range on Wednesday night. It shot like it should, too.

When I took the slide off to see what else had changed I had the same issue - it's like a subcompact Glock recoil spring, two stages and all. It seems to work itself loose when the pistol is fired, and when you take the slide off, you can't put it back onto the frame unless you re-seat it. That was my 30 second impression.

The next question is why did Glock change that?

ETA: Nevermind, there is another thread on that.

My G19's recoil spring assembly pretty much stays put - I can take the slide off and put it back on without having to re-seat the recoil spring.

Not mine, I always have to push it down a hair when I take the slide off.
