it would still take a lot of balls, or lack of to drive your car head on into a wall with wide open throttle,

i dont know how well a prius accelerates,

but in my truck at least i know it would hurt ..

Honestly, I'm totally suspect of these "stories".. it wouldn't surprise me if she wasn't even in the vehicle. I hate sounding like a conspiracy theorist, but I believe there is something far bigger at work than anything having to do w/ Toyota.

alot of fake copycats out there trying to get something for nothing. these people are so stupid they dont even deserve a bike. they would prolly fall off one with training wheels . if i was toyota i would start looking into these false claims and start a recourse against idiot owners and then this bs would halt.

im not trying to take up for any Prius owners because I honestly hate those hideous cars but i have a thought...

if the car can malfunction to the point where the throttle is being held at full throttle (not by the floor mat), then is it safe to say that all other electronics of the vehicle can have serious flaws as well (ie the ECU of the vehicle which is relaying information that the brake pedal was not pressed during the incident)

or is it going to come to light that the owner of the vehicle is actually going to fulfill the stereotype of trying to "get something for nothing" (my guess is likely the latter)

I work at a dealership and you wouldn't believe the amount of people claiming stuck gas pedals out there.. the last one had their mats stacked 3 high on the driver side - most of them are in vehicles that aren't even on the list of recalled vehicles!

The problem is, they are testing several of these vehicles, and they are finding them to be in working order. It would also seem rather unusual that the ECU is recording the accelerator "stuck", but it is not recording the brake being pushed.

I think there probably was some issues when the floor mat issue started.. Toyota was a bit slow to respond to that one, but they did(of course, GM, Ford, Chrysler have always been 100% forthcoming about safety issues)...

To many of these folks think they are hitting the lawsuit lottery, as shown by the post above...

    Their all liars!

It's a shame too! If someone has a seriously genuine emergency in a Toyota, they will be scrutinized because too many DB's cried wolf in hopes of making a buck.

I've had a little experience troubleshooting machines. Intermittent faults are the hardest to pin down. The machine can perform its function a hundred or a thousand times, then bang. Once had a piece of mylar wire numbering tape drop off a wire and short a set of contacts. Once in a million, right? But there ARE millions of wires and switches and contacts in service in all kinds of equipment all over the country.

I won't blame or defend Toyota until a smoking gun is produced that convinces me of the facts, one way or the other.

If I'd have gotten suckered (hybrid credit) into purchasing something as ugly as a Prius I'd be trying to figure out how to get rid of the damn thing too. Buyers remorse is a hard thing for many to overcome. I see it all the time.

I'm sure there are legitimate claims as well however.

Bet she didn't know that.

By my estimates, I would say that 50-80% of all Toyota gas pedal "accidents" in the last 3 months have zero to do with malf's and 100% to do with op-error and blamed on Toyota.

    Lemme clarify Mr. Iceman's point:

    They're all liars.

There. (Not "their".) That's all better. :wavey:

Sorry bro, had to do it. :)

They're all lying. If they're too stupid to put it in neutral, that must be Mother Nature's way of weeding them out.

How fast do you think that a Prius can accelerate? I know that you don't know, and neither do I, but I seriously doubt that it is capable of accelerating faster than a snail.
