Because we haven’t had enough people talking about their new BG.380 2.0,!!
I have an old BG with the Laser, and I have been very satisfied with it.. the laser battery is dead, I’ll have figure that out but I’m not planning on using it much and certainly not selling it,, although it could end up going to one of the kids..
I was slow to the attraction of it, I thought it would be a bloated and larger model, not improvement it is.. silly me, I bought a Shield Plus when it came out, after handling a few of the older models, and it is an awesome pistol!
Smith & Wesson could have followed the Shield’s naming and called it a BodyGuard Plus, it looks and feels so much like the Shield +, it is a home run..
there are some big changes, no more hammer, it is striker fired now.. better, or worse, I don’t know,it works, so… and of course, the capacity is the whole point of the change. The thicker mags and the slight inflation of the grip adds a feeling of better control while shooting. It is the improvement I like the most..
All in all, I am absolutely overjoyed at the improvement over the original BG,, I was satisfied with the original, very happy after shooting it this after noon. I have difficulty with a lot of Compact to Micro sized pistols, but the shape of the new BodyGuard’s grip make shooting it very smooth, absolutely no pain or tiring of my wrist or hand after shooting a box and a half of ammo this afternoon.. and much easier to shoot longer distances with the improved sights,, great job S&W!!!

They are $400 at the local places, I'll probably buy the first one I see for $350. It'll likely replace my LCP Max.

I see a trend here. I'm onboard with two of the little critters, one with safety and one without. Great weapons for deep concealment, including right front pocket carry (in the right pants/shorts). I think I can get accuracy rivaling my G27 or G26 and that's saying something to me.

Ugh, just about finished typing in an addition to my post and the whole thing disappeared.. well, one more time…
When micro nine pistols started appearing I jumped right in.. finally a carry gun I could easily carry and conceal was available. i already had a jframe but my new CM9 held 7 9mm rounds and as many 6 round mags as I wanted to carry in my pocket.. the little Kahr was impres but when the stack and a half 9’s appeared I grabbed a Shield + and then the Sig 365.. they were getting smaller and packing quite a punch..
the problem for me and lots of other guys getting older, smaller 9mm pistols are playing havoc on our hands. I love my little BodyGuard 380, but the original BodyGuard is very thin, flat and slick. It hides great, but shooting it is just painful..
with the entry of the little BodyGuard 2.0, like the little Ruger Max380, we get more shoot ability.. I shot my new Bodyguard 2.0 today without any pain, way smoother and easier than my original Bodyguard 380, and also easier than my Sig365..
I may continue to carry my Sig regularly but, I am getting older and now knowing how nice this little 380 handles, and it doesn’t hurt my hand when shooting it, I can get old in peace…

I have never owned a 380 but I see it gets lots of attention. I found myself drifting to the 9s because I was worried the 380 might be too small. I may have to pick one up and try it. I love my P365/Shield +/Hellcat and the Kimber R7, but those little 380s look easy to hide. I’ve been looking at that little Browning 1911, it’s a little gem.

What is also good is today's 380 ammo, it's not like the 380 of the 90's.

Glad to see that you like it, OP. I too like my older version BG. Mine is the later M&P version without the laser. But I will get the new 2.0 at some point too.

Tried to see one at Academy after church Sunday, but they had already sold it. They don't keep them in stock long but I'll get one eventually.

Thanks for your review!

I tried to find one in town two weeks ago and couldn’t find one.. Wednesday I went to Dunham’s and asked if they had one.. counter guy kept trying to show me the old one, told him I already had that one and he wouldn’t listen. Then an older guy walks over and tells the younger guy, move over. He leaned down to the bottom shelf and pulled one out.. yup, that’s what I wanted.. but I didn’t have time to wait around for the background check so I hoped it would last.. so Saturday I had time and was at another shop, owned by an old Sheriff,, I asked if they still had one, he had to go in back, of the five they had gotten in, I got the last one.. word has gotten out and they are selling pretty fast…

For a very short period of time, our Minnesota carry permits allowed us to bypass a NICS check but was reversed after a short time.
Back to the original posting, I got my Bodyguard 2.0 very early and it is a wonderful piece. I currently have three carry options and a fourth on order. For the most part I carry mine in an OWB holster.

I bought one.

The sights are off by inches down range.

The slide bites the fleshy meaty part of my hand between my pointer finger and thumb. Worst slide bite of any gun I ever fired.

Trigger is gross, gritty, clunky.

12 round mag is impossible to load the last rounds by hand. Had to use a mag loader and about 75 pounds of force.

Full mags don’t lock into the gun. You have to smack them in with authority.

Gun was 100% reliable through 175 rounds.

It has its issues but it’s the best small 380 on the market. It’s better than a Ruger LCP or LCP max. It’s junk compared to a P365-380, although that gun is much larger and they are not in the same category.

I've got one that I've had for a month or so. About 400 rounds, FMJ and some HP's. No malfunctions. Slide was hard to rack at first but has gotten MUCH better. Mags are hard to fully load. The first 10 OK...those last 2. A bear. So I just use a mag loader. No big deal. I've been using one since I got my first Glock about 20 years ago. Yes, with a round chambered I have to really smack the magazine to seat it. Sometimes twice. On the other hand the slide release works every time with the slide back on a loaded mag.

The little gun shoots low/left. Let me rephrase...I shoot it low/left. Using a laser cartridge, it shoots dead on to the sights. Shooting seated, elbows rested on the bench, it shoots to the sights. That tells me me, it's me, not the gun. I've always had the Low/left problem with small guns. I usually just give up and go back to something bigger, but I really like this one, so I'm working on it.

I carry it IWB, in a Bianchi 100 holster size 09 that I had in a bag O holsters, left from a flirtation with a Walther PPK/S. Fits just fine.

I'm still happy with my M&P Bodyguard .380 without laser. I may buy one as my tax return purchase this coming February if I find one locally and I like the feel in my hand. We'll see. tom.

I bought my BG380, took home and took it apart, cleaned, oiled, reassembled and racked the slide a hundred times or so. Worked the trigger along with rack movement of the slide then took it out and shot about 75 rounds, mostly fmj, but various hp’s also. Performed perfectly… trigger smoothed out nicely before I even shot it.. when you buy a new gun, they need cleaning and a little oil,, always been that way…

The only ammo I had hiccups with is Lehigh Defense. It seems to be getting better after a few mags, but I'll stick with the regular type of defensive ammo.

Thanks for the review @mj9mm!

I've seen so much good press on this gun I bought one today. I already have an LCP Max with which I'm happy but the BG 2.0 feels like a more ergonomic, better quality gun.
Sadly mine won't actuate the striker when pulling the trigger half the time. Weird; it resets and when I pull the trigger, the striker doesn't drop, after a few racks of the slide and nothing, it starts to drop the striker. That works for a few cycles and then it goes back to a few more cycles of nothing.

S&W already sent me a shipping label, it will be on its way back tomorrow.

Unfortunately Academy has locks on their triggers and you can't dry fire in the store or I obviously, wouldn't have bought it with the trigger issue. Let's see how S&W does with CS.

Interestingly the trigger bar on my LCP Max broke after my first range trip with it. Ruger CS was excellent. They fixed it and sent it back with an extra mag in less than a week. After that, it's been flawless. I trust it now.

I'm a lucky guy with these micro 380 pistols I guess. I bought a DB380 like 12 years ago that DB couldn't get right and eventually got a refund.

If you tell the clerk you won’t buy a gun without getting a feel for the trigger they will reluctantly take it off.
