We should pick one day out of the year to get together for daily events.
    Great Food, Shooting, Hunting,Fishing...................ECT.

We can take rotations on where it is and who has it.

    Anyone interested?

Grandma has a huge field of ditch weed and a windmill near by. Opening morning you can slaughter the hell out of doves. She also has a prairie dog field ner by.

The calamus lake is also near if anyone has a boat for fishing or whatever.

Doc, Looks like it's gonna be lonely, just you and I. IIRC the GSSF match is in GI around the first of June. Maybe then?

Stand and shoot, NO drawing - all from low ready, 10 round stages of fire. IIRC if we RO/help, we can get match a match discount. I usually attend one day total, 1/2 day work, 1/2 day shoot. Fun, plus you could even win a gun!

PS - I'll even hold your hand ifn' you're scared youngun':tongueout::rofl:

I'd be in for a dove or dog hunt.

    Where abouts are you talking?

I've never done GSSF or competition like that, but I would be willing to try it. I am also more of a hunter than a match shooter, but it could be fun.

Dunno about now but, in the depression days of the 1930s there was a concerted effort to "wipe out" coyotes - there was a $2.00 bounty per pair of ears. Coyote population was reduced but not wiped out - but an unintended consequence was overpopulation of jack rabbits and prairie dogs. I did my best to correct that problem - here I am in 1934 with the 22 single shot I got for my 6th birthday in 1932 and my "trophies".

This was in the sandhills where I spent the first 15 years of my life - I never went anywhere without my rifle. Life was good -

Not necessarily. Time vs accuracy, hits count. Someone could blaze the stages and only have 75% accuracy really screwing up their scores. OR Someone could take their time, get all A zone hits and win their class and a gun. GSSF classifies and breaks down the shooters by category AFTER the match. You just need concentrate on getting hits, being safe and having FUN!

It would be a bit of a drive, but I would probably make the trip.

I have never been dove or dog hunting because I don't have anywhere to do it. But, I do love to hunt:supergrin: It would be pretty cool to get some NE GT'ers together for a hunt or whatever.

    Good idea man.

    Nice picture, thanks for posting.

IIRC we don't have a season or bag limit on song dogs, but I'll have to check with games and parks again to make sure.

I've been wanting to go on a coyote hunt for a while. Mange killed off much of the population on the eastern side of the state though.

I would be there if I still lived in NE. NC is a wee bit too far. My Uncle had a farm in Ansley / Broken Bow area, spent a lot of time there.

I'd be up for it too, although I'm not much of a hunter.

Thanks for your kind words - I subscribe to NEBRASKAland magazine still (and have family still ranching in the Sandhills) and saw that pitiful coyote picture nearly dead of mange - tragic.

I wasn't a fan of coyotes but they are admirable animals, IMHO, and are generally speaking, real survivors. I grew up a cowboy (was nearly 16 when my folks moved to the city and I found there were other ways to make a living) and spent much of my free time trying to rope a coyote. Never did it, of course and, having typical for thought as young cowboys had, dunno what I would have done with it if I had been successful -
