And this is why I always carry a flashlight.

    I completely agree!

Once while on the road mine got misplaced (ended up in the dog bed at mom and dads house :dunno:).

When I realized I didn’t have it I went and bought a temporary light until I got somewhere long enough to have the SureFire replacement delivered.

And that’s how I ended up with a new one waiting to replace mine if it goes missing again.

The Fenix PD35 TAC that I bought as a temp light now stays by the bed.

The best thing I ever put on my belt is a Leatherman Wave. The second best is a small, single AAA, LED flashlight, that is held in an elastic pocket, on the side of the Wave's holster.
    I use both, every day.
One night, while doing kids' club, the power went out. No windows and it was dark out, anyways. I was the only one in the building carrying a flashlight.
    SAVED THE DAY!
Afterwards, my pastor asked, "Who carries a flashlight?" kinda sarcastically and with a grin.
    I asked, "Besides me?"

I have old non LED one but it mostly stays in my drawer because it’s too scary out in the dark.

It has been really difficult to find a small tactical light, with shooting range, that does not have multi levels and most seem to start on the dim setting.
I just want a small light with on /off that has good range.

So if you have a flashlight, you don't have to row in a lifeboat?

One of the reasons I like the SureFire.

    One click 500 lumens
    Second click 30 I believe

Simple and the burst is first

When I was working offshore on FPSO's (2M Barrell Capacity Ships), and Platforms - I always carried 2 X flashlights on my person. When down in the bottom of the FPSO working and the power goes off - which happened - it was ink black.
I used Pelicans and bought/buy them for my men to this day. These are the type I carried

These are what I carry now on land. But usually only one

ms gamboolgal and I carry G-26's when we are home to Texas
I have the TLR-6 and like it but I don't have a Holster that will take the light. But am planning on getting one as we have put the Trijicons on our EDC G-26's

Ha! I have a Fenix PD35 as well. 2014 Edition! New in unopened box. Just found it a couple weeks ago. Like I said, I have this tendency to hoard flashlights (and knives)

ARPCL light1.jpg My daily carry... 300 lumens on the first click, 1100 on the second click, and about 3 hours run time at high power.

An 18650 light, first click on is 1000 lumens. At its lowest - .01 lumen for 7 months.

The smaller is my backup SC5. 500 and .02 respectively. I also carry the Wave with a AAA Maglight solitaire in the pouch. ;)

I started carrying a light to use with my pistol, shortly after starting to carry it. I didn't realize how useful the light would be for basic utility purposes. It's massively handy for all sorts of stuff.

should go without stating, but best to replace the hf alkalines with decent batts first thing. agreed they're a handy little light; a pair work great while puttering around under car on jack stands, etc.

These are actually very handy, especially for the price-free! I get one free almost every time I go to HF. Coupons in most of the magazines I get, as well as in the mail. I use one in the garage as a guide for backing the motorhome in. As mentioned, the HF batteries aren't great, but at least it comes with batteries.

For EDC, I have a Fenix E12. It is only 130 lumens, but I like that it uses 1 cheap AA battery. About 3/4" diameter by 3 1/2" long. I think it was about $25. I have been carrying this for several years, and use it pretty much every day. And, I too have a new replacement waiting in the drawer. Now if I only remembered which drawer!

Zebralight owns the small light market, nothing comes close in a small AA light. The SC5 puts out more lumens on a single AA than most other lights do running two AA batteries.
