Just a "speedbump" in an illustrious career.. maybe not.
He didn't have time to build up speed in his career, this is more like a chock.
I would say he was not thinking with logic.
it's better for everyone that idiots like this get weeded out while still recruits before they have the opportunity to become administrators.
What a waste of a future administrator...
In order to become an administrator, you need to have some good war stories... Overturning a police car, while still a recruit, and while drunk, makes for a great war story.
Only he took it a little too far.
In the future he'll probably tell everyone how he was forced out of LE because of a crash while answering a dangerous police call-for-service, causing his broken foot injury.
More likely he will show up on Glock talk claiming to be an ex LEO and talking about how he got out of the Job because he couldn't be a jack booted thug. And he will take every opportunity to jump into any LEO related threads to bash the cops.
The heck with the ****** bag. Take homes for the recruits?!
In Alabama, mostly in small agencies that send people to regional academies, you can work the street for a year before hitting the academy. If he was attending our academy in Selma, he had about a 2.5 hour drive and was probably already getting paid.
ETA- looks like he was in the academy that is in the same county and about 10-15 minutes, max, away from their PD.
Ouch! Very mean. Not saying it isn't true of course.
Our cadets were given the fleet turd to drive back and forth to the academy, which was about 3 hours away. Since academy went Sunday-Friday, they were generally allowed to just take the turd home with them after that week's classes.
ETA: Our admin made it crystal clear that if you did something stupid in that car, you were gone. Period.
Two in my academy class got hired by the same agency while in the academy, and for the last half they got to carpool for the 1 hour trip in the county POS car.
We had a few people from a few agencies who got take homes or drove to the station to meet up and drive to the academy. Mostly it was meet up and drive. I think admin wanted to be able to see when they were coming and going and to make sure they were doing okay. The cars were unmarked crap buckets. I think a lot of them started off as patrol cars, then dick cars, then something resembling a car to run errands in.
As to the assclown in this instance...well, bye.
That goes to show you we recruit from the human race, and once in a while someone tosses a cull in the mix.

We had a recruit in our class get rolled back for injury, then get a DUI one weekend. While armed. Bye bye.
During oral board, someone showed up and during the interview it became known he did not own a car.
When asked how he got there, he replied that he had stolen a car, thinking somehow he was immune.
After that we had to advise interviewees of their rights before starting......
