poach it in 1/2 inch of red wine,1 teaspoon of sugar and a light sprinkle of oregano.

Peel, core pear or pears, cut in half.

Turn frequently to color all of it.

When softened remove from pan.

Turn up the heat and reduce the liquid to a syrup like thickness.

Serve sauce over pears.

Might still be good with your cheese.
