This link is to the NPR website where you can listen to an interesting interview with an author about his latest book, Glock - The Rise of America's Gun.

Worth a listen if you have a few minutes.

All I keep reading is the word "Right" "Right".

Whatever. Interesting. Sad what Glock as done with the 4th Gen pistol initial quality and their reputation is suffering because of it.

That's good. Probably 99%++++ don't have problems. But the fact that Glock has had to replace too many extractors is enough for me to shy away from them and those that are stuck with Gen 4's that do have issues have had to deal with it and that makes for bad business if you are claiming 100% reliability and resting on those laurels.

Huh... I didn't realize there was an issue. I'll do a little research on the matter for my own edification.

    Thanks - an interesting piece.

Mr. Glock is 82 & he marries a 31 year old? Maybe he was inspired by Paul McCartney. I've never understood that.

Along with the Gen 4 problems, I see some malfunctions in the marriage......

There's a thread floating around here in which the author of the book has been participating. I believe the thread title is the same as the book's.

    No No. You're right

No issues with Gen4's... Glocks have had trouble with their pistols for the last 30 years.

I never said there wasn't an issue with Gen 4 Glocks just that it has been extremely blown out of proportion by idiots on GT. Most of whom have not even owned a Gen 4. Including yourself I'm guessing..?

What is annoying is that people like you just at every opportunity to bash gen 4's despite the fact that this thread isn't even about that.

I am merely stating at how much the issue has impacted potential buyers to switch to other brands or find GenIII's (present party included).

Even the die-hards like myself and members of LEO community and gun community are a little cautious. Word of mouth is either the best thing or worst thing for business. That's what I am pointing out and it happened.

Awful lot of postings about it in General Glocking but mine are Gen 3 so am not involved in the issue.

I listened to NPR for years. They tried to take the most even-handed approach possible to every story. Yet, for the years I listened, the mention of handguns and the second amendment seemed tinged with a vile hatred. In this article, post the SCOTUS deciding that Americans had an individual right to own guns, the NPR reporter was even-handed. Wow. All I need now it to hear Rehm or Totenberg come around to the official American line.

Funny I bought a Gen4 G19 just because of all the stated problems as I wanted to see for my self. 2500 rounds later with the original 0 3 rsa and no problems. Mainly using 115 grain wbb and federal. There has been 1 failure to eject with my daughter using in a drill that required lots of movement (basically running while shooting). Her Springfield xd9sc has had lots of FTEs doing far less.

NPR's firearm history reporting is second to none. Their 100th anniversary stories on both the .30-06 and the M1911 would have humbled even Col. Cooper. HH
