I've seen a lot of posts and articles about ammo shortage. Why? Just because the cheap stuff is gone from Wally World?

Seems like every internet catalog on the planet had palettes of real McCoy LC XM193, Q3131A1, even XM855 on stripper clips. Only thing that is hard to find is a sane price. Beyond that, tons of ammo.

    What say you guys?

It's all about where they are looking!

I don't go to Lou's Police Supply looking for socks, I don't go to Wal-Mart looking for ammo.

You can get most anything if you are willing to pay the price.
Instead of "ammo shortage" if should be "a shortage of ammo at a pre obama price".

I still find ammo at Wally World for the same low prices. The ammo stock does not sit on Wally World shevles as long as it used to but they still receive ammo.

** Expect a present form the Mailman today **

I have nothing against Wal-Mart ammo, locally it seems they just have Blazer.
I refuse to pay for that garbage ammo when I can get Federal online for a bit more.

The only factory ammo I buy is 22LR, mostly a lot of Wal Mart 550 bulk pack.
I do check out the pistol ammo when I'm there. For months the two local stores were completely out but lately they do have 2-4 boxes of different calibers. I haven't seen any 38 Special and 45 ACP though.
And the cheaper Wal Mart still has a 2 box limit.

    I'll be looking.:)

Isn't Blazer part of Federal? All the stores around me stopped selling Blazer a while back and now sell Federal. It's the same price and other than the graphics, the packaging seems to be the same. I heard from a WM employee and someone else on of the boards here that Federal owned/bought Blazer.

It seems to be hit and miss, even in stores in the same area. Like I said, I only buy 22LR and one store will have only Remington and the other may have only Federal. Winchester totally dried up for several months and just showed up at one store in Red boxes.
    Hopefully they improved what's inside.

I've seen an improvement in the popular calibers but I can not find 380 auto in quantity anywhere - even on the net.

If I had unlimited amounts of money and wasn't concerned about costs, even women that looked like Eva Mendes would be around every corner.

I'm going Walmart later today and hoping.... :crying:

I reload for my calibers (other than 22LR obviously) and reloading components, particularly primers are still very hard to come by. I have scrounged enough and have some more coming from Cabela's but locally, primers don't exist. Don

I was told by the gun counter guy at my walmart, blazer owns federal now. Every time I go in there looking we chat it up for about 10 -15 mins. I hope maybe someday he will be nice enough to save me a couple boxes.

Our WMs have a steady stock of 9mm and .40 Fed Champion target ammo, .45 ammo is very hit and miss at the WMs by us, but they have the best prices by far in the area...even though WM did raise their prices during the surge. One local shop is selling Blazer .45 for $30.00/box. I actually said the hell w/it all once I started shooting .45 and bought a reloading setup a couple months ago.

I got tired of spending time calling around and hunting local ammo.
I bought a case of 9 and 45 this week online shipped to my door for less than local with no hassle. More shooting, less shopping.

I've seen improvement in ammo availability at my local Wally World's. It went from none at all to a few boxes here and there...

    Look, price IS the gauge.

Heck with enough money I can eat Panda steaks for dinner, but that does not make Panda abundant.

Give me enough money and I'll sell you a Kidney.

Money has a way of making unavailable items available.

My situation it totally different from yours in that I have lots of primers in towns near by, but I would rather order online than pay $45 per thousand. Even with shipping and hazmat I will break even at about the 2k mark.

I buy cheap Remington and Winchester for all my calibers only when I get low on brass to reload.
