Wow, a lot of people are paying the $200 tax stamp and going through the paperwork to go full auto.

In fairness the article says the one-shot version but to call it an AK-47….

Theres nothing cooler than having the weapon of your adversary. Last night on Gun Stories, they featured the AK47.

Luckily i picked up my ak and variants when they were somewhat cheap. Maadi $200 back in 1990, Chinese SKS $100 1991, Yugo WASR $320 2008. Now i see them going for $650 and up at the gun shows!!!

    Not impressed with AK platform.

I bought a Chinese MAK-90, back 'in the day' when they were $159.00. (Bought Russian SKS - Tula '55, I think) for $159.00, the same day.

    Never fired either.
Sold both. The MAK-90 left the safe and found another home, 2 months (or so) after I bought it.
The SKS left the safe, and found another home, several months ago.

    Don't miss either one!!

Me too. Jim's Pawn Shop at Ft Bragg had cases of SKSs for $88/ea. Now I wish I had blown a whole paycheck on 'em.

That article was surprisingly unbiased and did mention "one shot, semi-auto" plain and clear.

Those things belong on the battle field, not the street. :crying:

People keep forgetting to realize, the 1st amendment was for only talking about the weather, and the 2nd was for only hunting with extensive background checks and permits from the gooberment.

My neighbor bought one when they were $100 and I didn't even know about them. I wish I had.

A rifle is a rifle. It makes little difference what it looks like. If it is built for durability and sells for a reasonable price, it is a bargain.

All types of rifles have been used in war; this is just the most recent one being used in the most recent wars.

When single shots were the norm, the lever action made them obsolete. When lever actions were the norm, the semi-autos made them obsolete. Natural progression and innovation is behind every product made in this world. As long as the caliber meets the individual’s state requirements for taking game, thet ype or "style" is immaterial. Functionality is the criteria.

Some of us buy rifles because of reasons other than appearance. I happen to like old Winchester lever actions, but would also own an AR 15, AK or SKS, justbecause they are also good and dependable.

The only reason the current BS is being used to attack some affordable, dependable weapons, is that this is the only argument anti-gunners understand. Bias based on appearance. Sounds like a great principle to base a society on also.

These people fear guns. Irrational fear is the worst kind, indiscriminately applied to everything they don't agree with. Take away one groups rights because they don't coincide with theirs. I've heard this before.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same individuals would ban hammers because they don't have the traditional appearance of hammers seen in the past.

Looks like they believe a closed mind is society’s future.

I've always wanted an AK. If I ever get a gun safe, maybe I will.

I've got a Norinco AK-47 Underfolder. I bought in '89 right before Big George's AWB. I paid $199.00 for two of them. I sold one of them for $600.00 in '95.

I still have the other one.

    I like AKs.
I REALLY like the fact that the anti bleaters hate them so much!

Maybe I should pick up another one?

How did you decide you weren't impressed if you never fired them?

I'm not an AK guy, but do wish I had picked a couple up back when they were reasonably priced.

Don't have one, but have toyed with the idea for a while. The safes are too full of ARs (10s &15s) and HK 91s, M1As etc to fit one though.

I did pick up a Yugo SKS a while ago just because I got a wicked good deal for it....traded my nephew a gun that I was gonna' give him anyway....and it is a hoot to shoot.
But as always, with my 20/20 hind-sight, I wish I'd picked up a closet full of them back in "the good old days" along with another closet full of cheap ammo.
