Am I Nuts?

    I eat 1/2 a cup to 1 cup of nuts each day.

    Can this be harmful to my health? If yes how so?

    Nuts are my favorite snack and I probably eat a similar amount. Cashews, almonds, filberts, pecans, brazil nuts, all good and good for you. They're much better for you than all the chemical laden, high sodium snacks from Frito-Lay, et al.

    Boy, 10-4 on this one. I found out the hard way. I was eating lots of unshelled peanuts which brought the diverticulitis to my attention big time.

    Good bit of fat in them, but its good fat. I eat all kinds, though my favorite dry nut is roasted almonds with a little sea salt. I'm a boiled peanut addict though. If I'm not careful I'll eat so many they give me an upset stomach. I recently boiled my last batch of the year and split it with my cousin who is another addict. He proclaimed my nuts the best he's ever had.

    Me to. Spent a week in the hospital with an IV antibiotic drip. Fortunately it worked well enough they cancelled my surgery.

    Nuts and pop corn. Can't eat them at all. Not one. No way.

    BTW: OP: Yes, to many nuts can dramatically shorten your life. Full of oils. Some nuts are better than others.

    Our bird has the same nutritional requirements as humans and eats what we eat. (Usually at the table with us) If allowed to eats a lot of nuts, his life span shrinks from 25 years to 10 years.

    neighbor had a rough time with that nearly killed her.

    so far my worst is pollups which were removed.

    nuts are my favorite snack for months now. my list is very similar. i am working at greatly reducing salt intake and have made progress.

    They all come from Trader Joes:
    I am guessing at the list by calories -- most to least:
    1. raw walnuts -unsalted
    2. cooked almonds - lightly salted (want to move this to unsalted)
    3. cooked pumpkin seeds - salted
    4. cooked cashews - unsalted
    5. cooked pecans - salted (want to move this to unsalted)

    I am loosing weight.
