Weirdest thing - I used to be able to drink soda, beer, etc without issue. Now, as a dude in my mid-twenties, my stomach has a tough time dealing with it, it seems.

When I drink a beer or soda, I get almost immediate cramps (not severe, but very uncomfy), massive gas, and a very upset stomach. What's the deal? It seems to happen when I drink dairy products (milk and coffee with dairy in it) as well - but not when I eat some ice cream.

    What the heck, man?

    :dunno:

And yes, I know the immediate solution is to stop eating this stuff. Just curious...anyone else have this issue as well?

-any chance you live at a higher altitude now? I recall the first beer I had at high altitude, I felt like I'd swallowed a beach ball!

I was thinking IBS, but it's not *that* bad. I had a roommate in college that had it and it was awful watching that crap go down...literally.

You could be, carbonic acid is known to cause intestinal indigestion in some folks.

Milk is a nightmare for me. I am not allergic but it does not do my body good. Certain sodas and beer get me as well.

Guiness uses something different for foam. Maybe you could give it a try. See if you get different results. You cant give up all the good things in life! haha.

No, you are not allergic to carbonation. This is good, since none of the symptoms you mention are a sign of an allergic reaction.

If you think about it, carbonation is merely carbon dioxide. You produce this yourself, and expell it when you exhale. How could you be allergic to something you (and everyone else) produces in the first place?

My stomach doesn't like carbonated drinks, either, but beer is no problem at all. Thank God.

Are any of these diet drinks? Or drinks w/artificial sweetner? It can cause really bad bloating and cramping.
