very informative. Not a "cooking show" per se but a "food science" show.
Kinda grows on ya!
Love the show! Rarely miss an episode.
For my B-day last week I received two of his books - tons of outstanding information and data.
It does grow on ya.
The first time I watched it, I changed the channel after about five minutes. Now I enjoy it...when I have the time ;g
Which books didja get?
Inquiring minds want to know!
I got I'm Just Here for the Food and Alton Brown's Gear For Your Kitchen. I had them on my Amazon wish list and they magically appeared! ;a
ALTON=FOOD'S MISTER WIZARD
He just released a 3rd book for Xmas!
I have 6 full seasons saved on my computer. It's good stuff, or rather, good eats!
I'd say more Bill Nye than Mr. Wizard.
WHAT I ENJOY ABOUT HIS SHOW IS, THAT HWE SHOWS THE TIPS THAT CAN MAKE OR BREAK A RECIPE AND MAKE IT WORK. LIKE YOU SAID, HE MAKES IT A SCIENCE. I LOVE IT FOR NOT ONLY DOES HE SHOW HOW TO COOK A DISH BUT SHOWS YOU THE BEST WAY TO DO IT AND WHY AS WELL. LOVE HIS SHOW ALOT.
Yeah, the why is the best part. Many amateur "chefs" (and I don't proclaim to be one) just do whatever not knowing why, and often cut corners, thus messing things up. This is especially true in baking.
YEAH ITS TRUE FOR IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHY A RECIPE WORKS AND WHAT MAKES IT WORK IT IS THEM YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN THING TO IT TO ADD SOMETHING AND CHANGE THINGS AROUND AND MAYBE EXPERIEMTN WITH IT TO MAKE IT YOUR OWN...IOR IF NOTHING ELSE TO KNOW WHY AND HOW TO DO A DISH AND WHAT MAKES IT WORK..
I don't watch his show to often, but I do enjoy it. I like how he explains WHY things work or do not work. I like some of his tips that he gives. Many that I have seen I agreed with, said to myself "oh, that is why" or yea right get a clue, my way works better. I have gotten alot of good info from him, I think he has one of the best "cooking" shows out there.
